    I would like to know when we consider 6-sigma, is there +/-3-sigma of the centre or +/-6-sigma of the centre?

    I would suggest reading the information on this website including all the info in the bulletin board.

    Your question tells me you have not done the basics yet.

    But to give you a hint — +/- 3 is what has been taught for >50 years and its not working.

    SM Tsui, six sigma is refering to the requirement that +/- six standard deviations from the process average (center line) must all fit within the customer’s specificattion limits. The “customer” may be a second party or your internal engineering specs.
