I’m interested in opinions for additional training/ reading material for Certified Greenbelts.  Personally, I have been certified through a Fortune 500 Comany internal program.  My ultimate goal is to become a BlackBelt.  Unfortunately, I am at a company that hasn’t officially made a decision on the direction they want to take Six Sigma and therefore aren’t sending us for BlackBelt Certification.  I know there is a lot of stuff on the web for certification, but don’t want to buy a University of Phoenix type certficate.

Adam, just curious…why do you use a phrase like “Univ of Phx” certificate? U of P is one of the most highly recognized educational institutions in the world. Think you better find a different phrase to use if you are trying to indicate some kind of fake degree….cause you’re way off base with this one.

Adam,You are on the right track, don’t pay attention to the nonsense about
“highly recognized” – what does that mean anyway?Go find some organization that has credibility in the Six Sigma arena,
like Juran or ASQ and see what they can do to help.

When inquiring with Villanova, make sure to ask how many corporate deployments they have worked with.  Not just employees who have signed up individually; but whether or not they have coached or mentored any students through real project experiences.  Then call the folks at North Carolina State and ask the same questions.  You may be surprised at the difference.

Regardless of the number of deployments they have done make sure theyw were done well.
If Blanton Godfrey is still there, run.

Stan, you missed the point. Adam was citing U of Phx as if it were a fake degree issuer. It is not. AND “highly recognized” means just that…stood the test of time and is respected.
I wasn’t commenting on a SS program by U of Phx – just the use of their name improperly.
But then this point may be way over the heads of both you and Adam…so why am I wasting my time trying to explain it?

I want to thank everyone for their input.  I think I received very valuable suggestions for additional training.
I’m sorry my comment offended Mr. Brandon.  In my part of the country, U of P is not highly regarded.  That may be different in other parts of the country.
