I am currently in the process of re-designing our Green Belt curriculum. I have an issue with calling the facilitation, team dynamics, consensus building, influencing others, change management items “soft skills”. Does anyone have a more robust term for this particular section of training? Or is this just my personal pet peeve to get over?! Thanks.
Six Sigma is a Socio-Technical System. What you call “soft skills”, is the Socio part of that equation, and the socio cannot be separated from the technical for Six Sigma to succeed.
If fact, I’d be willing to bet when someone gets around to researching and documenting Six Sigma failures, their conclusions will be that the effort failed due to the Socio part of the system, and not due to lack of statistical or lean skills.
