    Folks,
I’m toying with the idea of sitting this exam.
I’m a fairly long-in-the-tooth blackbelt who’s executed multiple projects and innumerable uses of the tools individually
    What do you think?
    Good idea/bad idea?
    Any good ways of preparing?

With your background, in my opinion, the most important aspect of preparation would be to get organized with your reference materials.  A practice exam with your materials at hand would be a good idea to confirm your basis for confidence.

What is the value-add to you?  If you have the track record and the technical knowledge, then lack of an ASQ certification shouldnt hold you back in any way….I would expect little tangible return….

    Thanks for the thoughts.
The value added is all around my credibility. To be a “non-certified” in a sea of “certified” will become an easy target to blame everything that goes wrong on rather than an opportunity to look at the situation.
I’ve unearthed a Quality Council of Indiana BOK from 2006. They are saying that they have since updated the curriculum. Any thoughts on how big the need is to get an up to date one – or ways in which to this?

That should be plenty current….DMAIC is DMAIC.

I respectfully disagree because the gentlemen speciffically seeks ASQ certification, not just DMAIC training.  ASQ revised its BB body of knowledge in early 2007 by adding topics and dropping others.
Compare the QCI materials with the published ASQ BB BOK to see if you are sufficiently familiar with the topics ASQ added since 2006.

Good plan Pal. Wasn’t aware of a revision. However, you know DMAIC you’ll pass – is my bet.
