I am sitting at short notice the ASQ CSBB exam on 18th Oct, I would like to contact somebody who has passed the exam and can give me some last minute tips.
And would be happy for me to call and discuss.
Especially would like to know is there any replication in exam questions from CSBB primer notes.
    Thanks a mil

Use the materials of Indiana Quality Council, take the practice exams and bookmark the areas and books you need to answer the questions. When you take the exam, take three passes at it. First pass, answers you know off the top of your head. Second pass, answers you look up but know where the references are. Third pass, everything that is left, look up or anwer the same for all – there is no penelty for wrong anwers and ASQ looks to make sure no one letter (a,b,c,d) is used more than another.
If you deserve to pass, you will pass on the first two passes through the exam. The multiple passes are just about time management. I can answer all questions in less than an hour, so just understand that you have plenty of time if you are qualified.

Look on intranet for quality council of indiana, they supply a binder called CSBB primer notes, cost £140+?, they are much better than on line web site which is weak.
when do you sit exam ? pass mark is tough at 75%+

Is there some replication in questions from CSBB primer and CD exam questions in exam itself.- the reason I ask, is both above seem fairly comprehensive, so I would expect like in most exams some practice questions turn up again.
Are questions really more or less the same style and complexity, and all can be found basically in Primer notes bar logic ones.

What other books did you take in with you, was it just primer.
    thanks a mil

No direct replication of questions, but form and format are identical.
For books, I took primer notes, Implementing Six Sigma, Statistics for Experimenters, a SQC book, and Juran’s Handbook. I used only the primer notes and Juran.

Instead of the primer, I bought the QCI disk.  It has an MS Access database with all the questions and answers, which I turned into a list of factual statements with non-facts (example:  DOE is A, not B, C or D) keyed to the Body of Knowledge, which can be used during the exam (statements are OK, questions and answers are not).  I drilled myself until I could answer about 50% from memory.
    Good luck!

    Dave,
Can you tell me what file you opened to do this. I found the question # with the answers (CSBB.mdb), but that does’nt tell me what the acutual question is. There was one file that I could not open called exam.cfg  It came up in access but it said unrecognized data base format. Is that the file that I need to open?
    Thanks,
    Louie

If I recall correctly, I had to cut and paste the questions from the interactive exam to the corresponding answer set in Excel.  [email protected] to discuss this.

It would most likely be a violation of copyright law to share a file of exam questions/answers that was purchased from the Quality Council of Indiana unless the recipient had also purchased the materials.

Just a couple comments about the exam. It is has a 150 questions and is very comprehensive. Granted there are some questions you can answer in the allowed 1.6 minute allotment, but here are others that you may feel inclined to validate with your reference material.
I personally would not bring multiple study guides in, as your time is limited. The CSSBB primer was a great resource. I used the CD ROM extensively to prepare.
Regarding the statistical questions, what would have helped me is a calculator that had functions to help with T tests, anova, and the chi square table. I can do these by hand, but 1.6 minutes is pushing the time frame.
The strategy of going through on a first pass is excellent. yo don’t want to get bogged down. I had a “time” to do a first and second pass. I left 15 minutes to give educated guesses on about 10-12 questions.
I give credit to a good DMAIC and process management background.

    Validation is always good.
Everyone remember that Stan gives great advice (look at the first response in the thread and Karen’s input).

The action you propose represents a blatant copyright infringement.  I’m sure Philips would not condone such an activity.  A company the size of your employer should be able to afford the $150 price to purchase the materials legally.

I have been through six sigma training and now have to take the exam via on line.  Looking for a Black belt six sigma tutor.  Any one out there
