Here is a question from an ASQ CSSGB prep course I’ve been using:

What does it mean to have a correlation coefficient of .05?

    a) No relationship

    b) Moderate relationship

    c) Strong relationship

    d) Standard relationship

So, ok. How would you answer this question? The answer provided by the authors of the prep course is, b) Moderate relationship. Can anyone tell me how they figure this? I’ll tell you right now, if I see this question on the certification exam, I won’t give the answer they provide on the prep exam.

    Am I wrong?

    Thanks

@slawley – What answer would you give and why?

I would say “no relationship”. Even a moderate relationship is greater than 0.3 (not 0.03, or 0.05).

@slawley – Scott: You would be correct. Poor quality control on prep questions is my guess. They most likely were looking at a value of 0.5, not .05.

@ MBBinWI. I guess I’m not going crazy. I got the pre-exam jitters.
