0July 4, 2005 at 1:48 pm #122476Okay – the questions are in the mail. Let me know when you get them.
0July 4, 2005 at 2:06 pm #122477That was good Stan !!

Ken FeldmanParticipant@DarthInclude @Darth in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I did one better….I sent him the answers as well. Further more, I certified him as a Black Belt. Hope you and the family have a great holiday. Regards to Mrs. Stan and hope she is doing well. If you see Babe of a Sister today, give her a hug and a hump for me.
0July 4, 2005 at 6:08 pm #122486Slackers.
I, armed with this crude sketch;Have booked my air travel plans and am on a mission to find Ananth, where ever he lives and deliver what he has requested as well as Lean- Cutlet Super Sigma Six-Pack Master Holiday Black Belt status.
Since it is a holiday, I have some time on my hands.
And Darth, ah, yes….The ageless tradition of the holiday hug of a hump. I believe that it started as a indirect celebration from medieval times with our affection for the French and Notre Dame, and their bellringer Quasimodo, who had a hump.
The founders, with our own Liberty Bell wanted to pay tribute to bellringers everywhere and the tradition of a holiday Hugging of one’s hump was began. A fine tradition it is, and tell me, Darth need the one who’s hump is hugged wear some special type of garment??
What, did I misunderstand something?0July 4, 2005 at 8:12 pm #122488
Ken FeldmanParticipant@DarthInclude @Darth in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Phil, as usual you are ever so astute. You are correct in the derivation of the tradition. Below is a pic taken at the first Bastille Day which, of course, served as the model for the Holiday Hump. Notice the early Victoria Secrets attire which is a mandatory part of the ceremony. It is intended for the woman to wear but I heard that Stan wants to don the outfit for his greeting with B of a S.
Have a good holiday and good luck in your search for Anath.
By the way, how did you like the announcement about BOA buying MBNA. Hope they have enough Six Sigma people left to let go to help pay for this purchase.0July 4, 2005 at 9:03 pm #122489Pretty interesting stuff, that combination….seems to me that BOA can’t certainly have been able to properly digest Fleet and now they are dumpster diving into MBNA’s nonsense business…….
Did you also see recently that BOA had acquired an interest in a Chinese bank too.
Good thing we have Stevo on the inside slowly killing Six Sigma from within, otherwise until the day Wall Street see’s through the haze, BOA is on a roll. Pockets full of cash, significant quarterly profits and maybe the next most talked about strategic user of Six Sigma since a certain boundaryless corporation, which I’m sick of hearing about. Until then, who will be next to be acquired? And by whom?
I personally think that the Unocal/Chevron/Chinese oil company debate is a real threat on the horizon, long term.
Nice work on posting the photo of you and Mrs. Darth modeling the attire for Bastille Day. Now we know why you wear a mask!!!! Mrs. Darth, however is a real doll.0July 5, 2005 at 6:55 am #122497Phil, I’ve had the misfortune of working for that certain boundaryless organization for no less than 4 years – Six Sigma is more abused in the Financial Services sector there than anywhere else I’ve known.
Pity I now work for BOA, or is it? I’m just trying to make a living …. who the heck is Stevo?
Dude
PS I fell in love with Mrs. Darth too….
0July 5, 2005 at 1:01 pm #122507
Ken FeldmanParticipant@DarthInclude @Darth in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Dude, I too worked for that boundaryless company in the Fin. Svcs group and BOA before being part of the mass bloodletting last year. But as you say, its a job and at least BOA overpays its people and the environment is better than working in a steel mill or mining operation in the RSA.
But, hands off Mrs. Darth. If you are nice I can let you play with Darth Dog. Below see a pic of both. Mrs. Darth is awarding Darth Dog his ribbon for winning the tequila lapping contest in one of the local S. Beach clubs.0July 5, 2005 at 1:11 pm #122508D, yes that certain boundaryless corporation is a special place. It is a leader creating machine. Look at the present CEO’s at other companies who have learned there. And now new leadership at Boeing?
The “Home of the Meatball” was successful at running the businesses and attacking their problems creatively long before the entry of Six Sigma. SS has been like increasing the octane and tuning up the huge engine that makes up that company. But it was a huge, well maintained, competitive organization with discipline to start with.
Likewise SS changes with every generation. And it is easy to “abuse” if I understand your implication. Especially when users want results and have bosses that demand results.
Everybody wants to be like them. Nobody has the same DNA as them. Nobody has the leadership and bench team as them. Everybody is different. But everybody wants to be like them. And the literature is full of 5 year old stories of their results because they are so highly visible.
Stevo is a member of our forum community, always coming up with an interesting perspective. Do a search for a couple of his posts; always interesting. Best of luck at BOA, you guys are on a roll.
https://www.isixsigma.com/forum/showmessage.asp?messageID=724990July 5, 2005 at 1:49 pm #122509Phil – I know what you mean, only IT IS a meatgrinder of a company – nowhere have I seen more disrespect for humanity! BOA has been slightly better so far or is it that I am suffering from “large company syndrome”. That said whatever I’m saying is pretty pointless!
Darth, I like canines but I prefer Mrs. Darth – I promise I’m nice and all …. just kidding! I’m pleading insanity pretty soon.
Take care,
Dude0July 9, 2005 at 12:32 pm #122823Is it possible to get a copy of past exams? I’m studying for the 10/22 exam.

0July 11, 2005 at 6:23 pm #122885Sorry, but I’m busy traveling by yak, somewhere in ????? and still trying to deliver Ananth what he asked for. And this rough sketch isn’t helping much either. I’ll get to you next……..

0March 16, 2007 at 2:18 pm #153460I hate to break the news to you guys but for all those looking for “sample” questions to the ASQ exam………… No such thing exists. So stop crowding this forum looking for easy answers.
Sic Sigma is NOT about taking some random test, be it ASQ or others.
If you have met the other criteria towards GB/BB certification and would like to take the ASQ exam, I would recommend purchasing the CSSBB primer.

there was a time that certification came from “blood sweat and tears” – I guess it is a sign of the times – instant gratification – do you think it’s a “Generation Y” thing or ?

0March 21, 2007 at 2:11 pm #153706I don’t know.if they were properly trained and spent 40 hours of prep
with the QCI materials, they would pass easily. I can do the exam in
less than an hour, and I don’t think I missed anything (of course ASQ
doesn’t give you that kind of feedback).0March 21, 2007 at 2:34 pm #153709Adam,

You know, I think that the Gen-Y/Millenial Gen component is at play here. Also, I think that from a global perspective, 6S demand has grown so explosively that ramp speed has become an issue.
Look at BPO, of which I am no fan: The BPO industry has jumped on 6S and those that work in that industry see, first hand, the rewards being reaped by those with the “magic certification”. It’s natural for those not in the know to want to partake in the benefits/rewards of those in the know.
In this very forum, we see the unintended consequences of dumbing down the material and certification thresholds to make the short-term buck. I have cited ASQ’s BB cert process an many occassions as such an “Offender”.
I like ASQ, specifically their CQE business…I believe that they are missing the boat on the 6S side of the house due to the lax certification standards. You and I have both had the “pleasure” of interviewing ASQ-BB’s and we are in agreement that they just haven’t measured up in terms of bottom-line results, Leadership/Change Agency or Rigor. It’s a shame that the quest for short-term dollars may yield such far-reaching consequences.0March 21, 2007 at 3:08 pm #153714
