Those of you who took the ASQ Six Sigma exam this weekend, how was it?
What were some of the most difficult questions?
    Do you think you passed?

I sat for the exam last round (Oct last year !) and been ceritifed as one of the few CSSBB in the Greater China Region. This round, three of our consultants has sat for the exam and basically they claimed the exam is not too tough if you are really Six Sigma practitioner i.e. a MBB or BB, you can actually sit for the exam with minimum studies, perhaps few hours review a day prior to the exam as what I did last time ! I can’t passed for last October and have retake on last Saturday.
I got 520 from 550 passing score for October.
Last October was easier than when I compared.
Mostly latest exam, too wide and deep in content, but reasonable more
Ex. Mixture, confounding effect ,about 10 questions of DOE
And not just basically in general BB class.
5-10 questions are same as last October.
Analyze questions are quite good, case study is funny.
Some question about standard deviation, easy if….
I feel like passed the Quality Eng exam when finished.
My target is still passed. And will be till ASQ send me the result

Hi Tanasak,Good response on the ASQ BB exam. Would be great if you could answer a Couple of Questions:1. How many questions do you think you would have answered correctly to score 520 ?2. Having understood that the exam this time is a bit tougher than last october, How many questions do you think you would have answered correctly out of 150? Is there any guideline that we achieve the score of 550 if we are able to get XXX questions right out of 150???3. What is the amount that we have to pay to RE-TAKE the exam if we failed??? Thanks.

ASQ show me just 5 questions from average who passed.
Actually, may be we’re thinking to difficult
First exam, I take only pencil and my ID card. So Why that result?
Some easy question I need too much time for manual-calculate
About the correct answer and passing score, Could you look at ASQ.com they have clearly guide line.
Take it easy, ready as guide-line suggestion, Every experienced- BB can pass the exam.

Yep.  It was a bruiser.  Not extremely hard questions, but they ranged the entire body of knowledge quite extensively.  There were more calculations than I expected.  I still walked away feeling drained, but good about the expected results.  I think they did a good job of not making it so easy that everyone will pass, but if you are a decent enough BB then there should be no issue.  Big hint… I thought the QCI primer and Breyfogle’s book (implementing six sigma) were big helps.  Breyfogle has a new revision coming out soon and I am excited to see all that he has added in there.  Pyzdek’s book is a good one as well.  I took those and my training manual in the exam and used them all.

I took that exam this time and I have been certified.
Take that exam seriously as it is tough. My green belt exam under GE was full of theory questions and so it was pretty easy, some numericals were also easy and concept based. Infact GE gives good training but their exam is easy.
ASQ exam was really a fight (4 hours and 150 questions) atleast 30% numericals and it went fast. Study DOE ,Hypothesis testing, Analysis of Variance (for DOE), Variable charts throughly. Most of the questions are from this area.
    Books: I would suggest
1st and foremost the QCI guide.(only for the theory part…don’t depend on it for numericals)
2nd and very important Breyfogle. (theory part ..specially DOE and industrial applications part)
3rd Probability and Statistics for Engineers by Levine, Ramsey (very good book for numericals)
ASQ has designed its BOK in such a way that it covers almost everything. Their exam is such that not everyone can pass through…it really tests your knowledge…so be careful and be prepared.
    good luck
    BB
