Good day, I am the Dir of Six Sigma at the Sheraton Grand in Sacramento. I am looking to connect with other Six Sigma Black Belts or Master Black Belts to discus what is working, not working in industries other than Hospitality.
Thank you,

Nice Hotel but $169 a night? PLEASE, not that nice. (First night anyway) Hard to tell what you pay after that, could be whatever year you were born in to $135 with a two night min. stay.
Just looks like your hotel has taken the Obama approach and trying to please everyone, why not have a fair and honest rate that people appreciate and let the ammenties speak for themself. Just my opinion
0September 2, 2009 at 6:52 pm #185145In regards to posting a question, i am looking to join or start a monthly group that meets to discuss process improvements that have been implemented. My counterpart in Houston started one about 2 years ago, various BB’s and MBB’s that meet, discuss “pains” and brainstorm solutions. They then work through the DMAIC process to make sure they found the right solution.
As for the person who wrote about getting cheaper hotel room, what does that have to do with benchmarking? If you are looking for less expensive hotel rooms, I recommend you check out Travelocity.0September 2, 2009 at 7:25 pm #185147

Why don’t you meet with your counterpart in Houston?
You might want to try listening to your customer. I just made a complaint about how confusing your web site was, and also pointed out how you have several opportunities for mistakes to be made in the actual pricing of your rooms, but you didn’t catch any of that.
Good Luck0September 2, 2009 at 7:39 pm #185149I have reached out to him and he sent me a powerPoint Deck of what thier group in Houston does as an overview. But, being that I am in Sacramento, it is not cost effective to visit him. As for VOC, in the hotel industry we try to listen to that daily and get some fantstic ideas from that. I did forward your thoughts to our Corp office and hopefully they will listen to VOC, but I am at the hotel level and the scope of my position as a BB is to work on proving solution for my hotel.
Thank you for your comments though.0September 3, 2009 at 1:30 pm #185163Jon
Not knowing your background or experience around Operational Excellence, but if I can make a suggestion before joining any group to address pains, start with your internal process. You mentioned I believe that you are doing this at your hotel level, and not coprporte wide (which could be the path going forward), having said that, thier must be a lot of pains internally that can be addressed. Here are some areas to look:
– Your Hotel Strategy
– Value Stream Map (current and future)
– Spendings
– Standardization
– Synergies
– Etc…
I would suggest to start Lean to remove all the waste and maybe run 6 Sigma in parallel. Going lean first will remove all your waste so that when youre ready to venture 6Sigma you are actually going after variability and not noise. Just a suggestion…

I am a black belt with a Lean background, & expertise
in the manufacturing sector.
The only thing that does not work is when efforts are
not focussed (goals not clearly defined).
If you can manage to avoid this pitfall, between a
combination of six sigma & lean, there is no project
that I have come across that could not be optimized.0 -
