Does anyone have any experience creating online Black Belt Exams?Β  My company is interested in automating the exams to improve the timeliness of grading and also eliminate the amount of work required to do them.Β  Our CTQ’s are that the questions be pulled from a test pool which is scrambled each time the Black Belt assesses the test and that the score is displayed as soon as the test is complete with the score being emailed to the test coordinator as well as the belt.
    Thanks,
    Angela Jones

Perhaps you are aware of this, but some suppliers already have these sorts of things developed. One I am aware of is BMG, Inc. There are probably others.
Might make sense to evaluateΒ make vs buy decision. If you decide to make, there are all sorts of tools in the elearning industry for developing courses, learning, testing, scoring, etc. Its a big area, and if you are not familiar with this stuff, my inclination would be not to wade in too far trying to re-invent the wheel. Just my humble opinion.

You could develop this pretty easily. Talk to your IT group or hire a programmer from outside your organization to do it in JSP or ASP. It is relatively straightforward provided you have all your CTQs documented.

Talk to Quality Council of Indiana.Β  The Black Belts I work with purchase a CD for $60.Β  IT has a list of over 100 questions.Β  You can identify one specific area, practice exams, or how many questions from each area.Β  It then identifies with a histogram your strengths and weaknesses as well as how much time you took per question.Β  Finally it give an individual and cumulative score.Β  It is meant as a preparation to pass the ASQ Black Belt Exam.

Is the Quality Council of Indiana a for-profit company? The name makes it sound like they’re a not-for-profit, but I couldn’t find any information on their website. Is it misleading on purpose?
