    Hi to everyone,

I’m Manuel and I am currently studying at the University of Trento in Italy, M.Sc. in Mechatronic Engineering. Very happy to be here in this community with a lot of knowledge to share. Since in a few time I will start my final thesis in Lean Six Sigma integration with Big Data, I have some questions that I want to ask here. I have found in the web some papers that talk about the integration of LSS and BD but I haven’t found out books or particular courses about this topic. I have also search in the discussions here and I have found a lot of useful information and answers that enlight me. For this reason I thank you a lot! My question is: can someone indicate me some books (if they exist) or other materials for go in depth into this topic of integration of LSS and BD?

    Thank you all again!

Hello Manuel and welcome to iSixSigma!

There are a ton of helpful people here and decades of useful information….take time to read as much as possible.

I did a quick search and found an interesting thread on big data and Six Sigma that you might find interesting:
    https://www.isixsigma.com/topic/big-data-analytics-vs-six-sigma/

And while we don’t have any articles on the integration of big data and Six Sigma, I did find this that you might find useful dealing with trend analysis in large data sets:
    https://www.isixsigma.com/tools-templates/sampling-data/taag-analysis-fast-and-easy-for-comparing-trends-in-large-data-sets/

Six Sigma is about making decisions and managing businesses based on data, not gut feel. So I look forward to hearing more about your progress as you continue your journey. Maybe we could get you to come back and submit an article (based on your thesis) to us when you’re done?

@manugirla Something you may want to consider is understanding the impact of IoT on taking acquiring large data sets. You can take a lot of data with next to no cost and it speeds up your LSS projects exponentially (that was one of those words when you heard it in school you were pretty sure you would never in your life use it. Here I am killing it!)

Thank you very much Michael, Andrew and Mike for your answers. Now I’ll go to check the links which you share. Sure, when I will go on with the thesis, I will keep informed you with a post and describe my activity. Thank you again!

@manugirla I will be very surprised if you find a lot of material on IoT, big data and LSS. People don’t seem to connect the dots all that well until someone else does it for them. They all leverage each other and if you are just getting into this you need to understand how to maximize your return.

    Good luck.
