I am a employee of Samsung high tech electro mechanics machine(china).
A lot of people carrying through the GB project in our company and I am a member of them.
To be frank that,I don’t think the sixsigma can improve our productions’ quality and a lot of people have the same viewpoint.
As a matter of fact,my project is really affect my productions, but I think this isn’t meaning the result come from sixsigma,at least half of it.
In my dream,I want to be a electronic quality engineer, but I don’t know what’s the necessary conditions? I know the sixsigma is good to me and my future, and what’s the others?
If someone know about it,please send to me!!!
    Thanks a million!!!

If you are trained to be a Black Belt and you complete some good projects, you are on your way to be a Quality Engineer.  QEs investigate quality failures and implement corrective actions;  more importantly, they create systems that cause quality goals to be met.

Hi,I am glad to receive your letter!!!
I think you may be a qualified quality engieer or 6sigma BB,right?
As a matter of fact,I recognize that the sixsigma is improtant to a quality engineer, but I want to know what’s the other conditions to a qualified quality engineer.
Now,I’ll finished my GB project in 2 weeks, but I have some questions to now.
Our company use MINTAB as the sixsigma software and it take me 2 days to master it,I think this enough to understand it.But I always think there are a lot of important content which haven’t been teached in my education, for example SPC,5S,QC 7 TOOL and etc, what can I do to master them?
Do you know some books about 6sigma,SPC,QC 7 TOOLS?
By the way,do you write in chinese?

    Hi QHT,
As I understand, six sigma Black belt and quality engineer have lot of things in common. But six sigma just not focusses on quality, it is more of an improvement tool. If you wish to be a quality engineer I would recommend taking up ASQ’s certified quality engineer (CQE) exam. It encompasses everything that a quality engineer needs to know. There is also an exam for Certified Quality Manager and that should be a good progression for you after CQE.
    All the best

    Hi,Mr Davag.
    Firstly,thank you for your reply!!!
Seconly,I want to tell you the fact in my company isn’t as your expect, there are a lot of difficulties when I carry through my project, and at the same time the teached knowledge about sixsigma are superficial.
Thirdly, would you mind tell me what’s the meaning of ASQ.I heard of there is a certification named CQE.I want to be a CQE,but I don’t know where can I get it.So,could you tell me at your most convinent time?
At last, where are you come from?

    hi!
I want to know if it is  necessary in your country to be a certified QCE before you can practice QUALITY jobs.  If you really want to master QUALITY ENGINEERING, my suggestion is to take a training in Japan where Quality was built.  It’s not just learning it but absorbing it as well.  I’m speaking from my experience.  To give you an example can you define QUALITY?  dont you know that it’s not 7 tools but 14 tools?  6sigma is just part of the normal probability curve.Good luck

I’m a certified quality manager.I have obtained my certificate from Manitoba University /Canada (following the suggestion from ASQ).As a requirement to participate in that program you should first have several years experience as quality manager.I may recommend this program because it is excellent,it consists of two courses :quality control & quality assurance,it lasts for more than 6 months, you have to perform 2 assignments in each course and one final (open-book)exam for each course as well..I think if you pass this program successfully you need some practical applications before allowing yourself to act as BB in your Company. It is really a comprehensive program.
                                                                best regards.  Muhannad

    Dear QHT,
I am also from China, I work for Viasystems(GZ), ASQ means American Society for Quality,  CQE means Certified Quality Engineer,  I think if you master Six Sigma fully, it is not important to be a qualified QA, because I think in your company, everyone  knows you can do,  if you want to find a better job, you can be a cetified CQE through the examination. For example, now I am a BB in our Company (internal certified), if I want to leave here for another place, I can be certified to be a BB through the examination(external certified).
I think if you master SixSigma, it is easy to be a certified CQE or certified GB or BB.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Steve

    QHT,
ASQ is the American Society for Quality.  See the link in my previous reply.  They also certify Black Belts.
I live in Connecticut, in the United States.
