    I have to define a capability baseline taking into consideration three independent factors
    1)Complexity of the job
    2)Functional area – 100 different functional areasΒ 
    3) Years of experience
    Is there any way we can correlate the three.

    You can create categories and study the data using t-test, anova and chi-square to see if diff in categories is significant.

    Hello Amit,
    From a practical perspective: yes, no problem. Just proceed as you would when calculating main-effects (decomposition). E.g. plot your Y (or different Ys) as a function of “years of experience”, while neglecting (for the moment) all other parameters. Fit with a linear or whatever seems appropriate. Check the residual. Do the same for each functional area. And for complexity. You’ll quickly see, if there are interactions or not.
    However, I’d be very careful taking your inputs into account. “Complexity of something” to my experience tends to be a fuzzy input variable. How is it determined for a given job? Has there been a gage R&R study performed on complexity? If gut-feeling is the dominant classification scheeme, you’ll see the related variations propagating into your corellation analysis.
    To get an indication about the quality of the complexity classification consider dividing your data for Y = const, for different values of the constant. Examining the group of data sets, which give, e.g. yields of 90 %. Do your observations make sense, e.g. do all high-complex jobs result in 90 % yield? Or is a 90 % yield independent of job complexity? Is it the same for other values? Whatever your observation is: does it make sense in your environment?
    BTW, what is your output Y and how do you measure it?
