    Hi, I lead an operations team in the financial services industry. My team caters to a specific a specific geographical location. We also have teams performing the same process but for other geographies. I have been assigned a merging these teams in to single group in means to have best practices sharing, back-up mechanisms and most importantly single ownership. Challenges could be difference in practices across regions(though it is the same process), shift management owing to time zones. Do I have a case which could be converted in to a project and if so, can you please opine what should be the approach or the methodology to explore

    @RAGARO – What’s the problem that you want to solve?

    There has been very high attrition of senior members across the board and the current team is very young. Owing to this we have a lot of quality issues. And this merger could help us pool in the all the available senior members in the first place aiding cross- training to happen. And we could also aim standardization of the process

    @ragaro

    As my colleague stated, you can consolidate “best practices” but without data on who’s performing well (what is a quality issue?) then you can’t best integrate best practices. You might have metrics to advise how the disperse teams are doing?

    @cseider

    Yes the metrics are available. But should that be the data to work with?

    You can’t know what is best practice without data or else it winds up being a test of ego’s, working relationships, and who can scream the loudest. My two cents.

    @RAGARO When you centralize by how many people are you going to reduce your headcount?

    Acquire more skills and keep a tab on current technological development. This will give you confident and you will feel at per with others in your workplace.
