What happened to Stan, Mike Carnell, MbbinWii and the others?

    I’ve only tracked down Darth?

I think there is a frustration and dissatisfaction with the new format which has discouraged the regulars from posting. I had some time this week so I have been giving it a try but it is more difficult to use than the previous version. While the new version looks nice and certainly has a lot of stuff in it, the freewheeling format of the past was more conducive to active interaction. Just my opinion.

There was once a free flowing discussion format. What happened to that?

This place is now just like every other boring site out there. It suxxs.

Guess you summed it up pretty well. Should be a noticeable dip in posting volume which I am not sure will ever resume its former self. Hope you are up and about and fully recovered.

The amount of time the website takes to load with all the helpful graphics appears to be significantly longer (although I can’t run a hypothesis test without time travel capabilities), so it is somewhat tedious to flip through multiple conversations; also a bummer.

It has been awhile since I was here. New format. Always looked for your name and Stan – and a few others. This is not good. There used to be many posts on a day. What happened?

This is so sad, this site had been a great resource – now it seems I have to go in to each sub-section if I want to browse.

I prefered the old format where all posts were together in one forum. I could go in look for anything that interested me then leave – easy! Unfortunately it seems that others feel the same as I do hence the absence of many regulars.

Can anybody tell if Robert Butler still posts, I haven’t seen any of his posts recently.

I agree with all of the previous posts. Reading through the discussion boards used to be much more valuable to me. In addition to the discussion board, what is the deal with the search functionality? I used to be able to search on the main page of the site and bring up more articles than I needed. Now, if I Google something and end up here, I immediately leave the site. Not to mention how annoying it is to search directly from this site.

Was there a VOC initiative in place prior to building out some of the “upgraded” features? If not, how ironic is that?

At least we got the site’s priorities in order and ensured the posters could use emoticons…good grief.

I heard Robert Butler and Stan are taking a vacation to a quality forum in the UK. So they havent been around much. Sometimes I think Robert Butler and Stan are the same, but thats a topic for a different discussion.

MBBinWI is missing in action and so on and so forth.

    Don,

I have been working on GSA certification for CS International and ISO for my factory. That is pretty similar to quiting smoking and going on a diet at the same time. Pretty miserable.

Normally that would allow me to post frequently. I used to run the DF in the background and just check it to see what was going on. With all the little compartments it isn’t all that easy to do and the discussions do not flow like they used to.

FYI – Stan and Robert Butler are not the same people. I am pretty sure Stan didn’t attend a quality forum in the UK. I haven’t spoken to Robert in a while so not sure if he attended. They actually live in different states.

MBBinWI – it is my understanding he is working his butt off right now.

    Hi Mr. Carnell.

The “Don” above that wrote that is NOT me. Let me say it again, that is NOT ME.

I value your comments and look forward to seeing you around more. I normally only sign on with a password to log on so if you see silly posts in my name its probably a farse.

    Best,

    Don

As a five month newbie….I agree. The prior format was much easier to use..

The forum has become too difficult to use/follow… We offered VoC input, but no follow up occurred…sad.

I’m sorry to learn that you feel the iSixSigma team hasn’t been responsive to VOC.

VOC was a significant factor in adopting a new discussion forum software. (See my earlier post: The New iSixSigma Discussion Forum.) This was not the only forum we investigated – others are far deeper in functionality (and bells and whistles) that we felt was unecessary and would have needlessly bogged down the flow of discussions.

There are now a few ways to keep up with the conversations – detailed in this post, Tips for Keeping Up with Postings on the iSixSigma Discussion Forum .

As problems popped up in the first few weeks of being live, we were grateful when readers posted their concerns in the forum so that we could promptly address them. The iSixSigma team routinely hovers in the background – we welcome any feedback you choose to post in the forum (or send to us privately).

    Sincerely,
    Katie Barry

    Katie,

Too bad your VOC came from people who don’t actually come here.

You are dying on the vine. You going to fix it or defend a bad solution?

    Gary,

VOC is valuable and important to us – and we have much from regular participants and lurkers to the discussion forum. The fact that we are not making any changes now should not be interpreted as us ignoring our audience.

I’m truly sorry that you are unhappy with our new forum. However, we’ve received both negative and positive feedback. At this time, we are not planning an overhaul to the forum. Some changes are under discussion, but as we are just in the third month of the new format, we do not feel we have enough data to support making those changes yet.

One change that will be coming sooner rather than later is making registration on the forum mandatory, to cut down on spam.

If your still gathering VOC I was wondering what the matrics on hits, number of posts etc are now and how they’ve changed, as unless I’m using the forum incorrectly e.g. readying the most recent section you’re down to a few posts a day.

and if I’m missing something then for a system which would work without a guide it’s not great.

If this is down will this not reduce your ability to sell advertising and in the end possibily close the site down?

It is not uncommon – indeed, it is expected – that a new forum format will change how it is used.

Yes, we are tracking discussion forum traffic and posts, as well as traffic on all areas of the site.

    Katie,

I finally figured out how to see a reply – by clicking on the small label next to the persons name. I know I’m not one of the smarter people who visit this website, but can one really describe this action as consistent with the banner – recent posts?

I also found out the other day how easy it is to lose a post after a preview. Whew, such language!

The only reason I visited the site this afternoon is because I thought there might be some other readers like me who have to shred confidential papers from time to time and find the quality of some of the Chinese shredders in the pits. So these days I just wet the paper in a bowl of water, roll it into a ball, and leave it to dry. I’ve tried taking it apart and reading it, but I can’t.

    Have a good day y’all.

Mike: Don’t you know it (and I’m sure you do!). But I’m back, at least on an intermittent basis. Only “cutting the cheese,” one day a week, but serving up some “good to the last drop” the rest of the week. Got to go to Germany in a few weeks to see how they serve it up.

Not sure I’m a big fan of the new format for the forum, but then I haven’t spent much time perusing, so haven’t enough data to form a final opinion.

Don: I don’t do the Wii (that would be my son).

Been very busy this spring, but things are starting to stabilize.

Not sure how you got a negative 2 Karma rating. Who’d you piss off?

Katie: 1) Thanks for requiring registration, does it require e-mail address confirmation?
    2) I think that you could probably get back to more of the free-flowing style by eliminating the topic areas and just having one topic.

    Sshh :

The VOC has been finalized – armchair style . Doesn’t matter what the customers think / feel . Now get on with the game – take it or leave it ! :woohoo:
