Do we need to monitor a process using control chart which we can not control. Though we can identify a route cause however can not take any corrective action as action is dependent on vendor? Pl reply.

Control Chart or SPC is typically used to see the behavior of a process.
It should be in the best interest of the process owner to see SPC to be able to identify the opportunities for improvements as well as learning the process, so the process owner can be the subject matter expert.

In my experience, SPC also being used to monitor the products from our suppliers, especially the ones that has critical characteristics and has to be capable.
A stable process is a non-negotiable requirement for a process being capable.

So it depends on your and your customer needs.
Addressing these would help you define the tools that would support your objective.

Have you considered determining ranges of the X’s of the vendor’s process/product and setting specifications as part of your sourcing needs?

One can’t give up and say….we have no control.
