I am doing GB Project in ” Accounting Payables Process Cycle Time Reduction”.
CTQs are Delivery ie Payable Processing Cycle Time should be  24 Hrs
Defect : I am defining the Bills that processed beyond 24 Hrs as a defect.
Unit : I have collected Data i.e No. of Bills / Invoices processed with in 24 Hrs. Date Wise.
Opportunities : No. of Inward Bills during that day.
Customer is our Management. They want 25 is USL and 23 is the LSL.
Measure : Datewise DPMO and Sigma Level.
Data Collection : Datewise and Month Wise
    My Questions are below :
Explain me some of the tools to be used in
    1. Analyse Phase
    2. Improve Phase
    3. Control Phase
    Give me some guidance

I have a question for you.  You say that your spec limits are 25 and 23.  Is that the number of hours a bill takes?  What you are saying here is that it is a bad thing to get it done before 23 hours.  I would assume that 0 would be the lower limit, meaning if you get it anytime from 0 to 24 hours than you have a satisfied customer (management) so the limits should be 0 and 24.

    Hi Adam,
I have defined defect as Bills Processed after 24 Hrs.
So, No. of Bills is my Unit.
DPMO  = No. of Bills Processed after 24 Hrs / No. of Bills Received.*1,000,000. on a Particular Day.
I am not controlling the Time Factor. I wish to reduce the cycle time of the process.
I hope I answered your question.

    Adam :
That is the No. of  Bills to be processed per Day with Processing Cycle Time of <= 24 Hrs should be minimum 23 and maximum 25. That is voice of the Management . They are saying, average lead time of procesing a bill shall be 15 Minutes. So , 6 Hrs is the total Working hours of the Day. So they fixed as Target.
I have identifed the process mean 15 Bills per day. If We receive say 25 bills some days, then the remaining 10 Bills shall be defined as defects. this my area of the problem.
My project objective is reduce the process cylce time to enhance the productivity.

    I see.
In that case, the tools you would use for analyze would be:
Fishbone, FMEA, Hypothesis testing, Correlation and Regression, 5 whys, brainstorming.
Basically, you want to develop theories with FMEA, Fishbone, 5 why’s, etc. and pareto your biggest hitters. Then verify with statistical tools.
