    If Specification limit is not given then how the Cp & Cpk values are calculated? eaplain this with example.

    Short answer – can’t be done – gotta have those pesky little specs to calculate Cp / Cpk

    Look at your equation for cp and cpk….then fill in the missing blanks.

    Specifications are typically thought of as customer requirements. In a manufacturing setting that is true, however, the largest opportunity within Six sigma is in the transactional world. In the transactional world (of which most six sigma “experts”) are familair with a specification can be equated to an expectation of what the process is expectedto meet.
    If you utilize this philosophy you can them proceed with your calculations.

    Godfrey,
    Charles is correct, spec limits are an essential part of the Cpk calculation.  Without them, Cp or Cpk cannot be calculated.
