Just by the CQE Primer available on the ASQ website. You can also take a class for it if it’s near you.

Take Juran & Gryna’s Quality Planning and Analysis into the exam.
This is not a product endorsement.

The CQE Primer is from QCI – Quality Council of Indiana, not ASQ.

I meant to add these references too:
The Certified Quality Engineer Handbook  (ASQ)  by Donald Benbow
Quality Engineering Handbook by Thomas Pyzdek

    Mark,
Thanks. But what do you mean by Primer on ASQ website?

The study books for CQE are about 700 pages, how many hours if studying is needed to pass the exam?

A lot depends on your current knowledge and familiarity with the subjects in the CQE Body of Knowledge.
This is not a product endorsement, but I have found the self directed learning programs from ASQ are good. Here is the link for the CQE training:
    http://www.asq.org/ed/sdl/cqe/
Juran’s Quality Control Handbook is also an excellent resource.
    Good luck.
