    Hello all:
I’m interested in translating Data Entry Best Practices. Does anyone have any insights on how I can obtain some case studies??

    Jules-
My company focuses on data entry issues for Six Sigma.ย  You can read a rather detailed case study at http://www.hertzler.com/html/news_art_ImprovingBottomLine.asp.ย  Hope this helps.

    Thanks Evan –
I was more interested in the Data Entry process in regards to prescriptions.
    Example:
DE Clerk receives 250 Scripts/day and enters them into a computer. Inherent with any process so dependent upon humans, will be errors entering the pertinent information. Make sense??

Jules,One of our black belts worked on a shipping error project. It turned into a manual data entry problem similar to what you have described. We were able to implement a bar coding system that elimnated much of the manual data entry and significantly reduced the defects. If this is not feasible in your process consider attacking the problem from the database end. Modify the input forms to screen the data for correct entry syntax. You can also add required fields to avoid missing data. A final approach might be to add a secondary screen that shows a summary of the data that was enterred and asks the operator to verify that it it correct before updating the database.I hope that this helps.Sincerely,Matthew Stillings

    Hello Jules,
I have just facilitated a project to reduce errors in manual data entry by 99% i.e. only 1% of the original errors are left. First pass is 99.7%. This resulted in huge savings in manpower and increase in productivity.
I will be pleased to share the experience with you if you send me your e mail address. I would also be prepared to help your company achieve such a performance.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Hi, i am newly join in this site. This site is very useful to others.I think everyone can agree that neither are a “diploma mill”. Both have a curriculum that covers everything that a black belt six sigma course would.===================sharoo
