    Hi,
    Senario,
“A client applies for a new credit card and he is rejected due to his credit score and other requlations”
Do you consider this rejection as “Defect”?

    Thanks

@sam123 – As Trish has said, you need to map your process and identify what should happen based on the criteria. If that actually happens, then it is not a defect. However, if X was supposed to happen, but Y happened instead, then that would be a defect. It’s actually pretty easy if you define the system by what should happen.

You need to appreciate the philosophy of Six Sigma. It can be used in any industry. You just have to know how to apply the tools. Since the client is rejected because he did not meet the pre requisites set up by the system, it is fact shows that the system is alive and kicking. If something is not picked up although specified, that is a system failure and a defect.
