    Dear Friends
I wan to better understand the difference between Pearson Correlation value and that of the p value. Minitab show both when running the mentioned test. My understanding of it will help me explain this to others
    Thank you

    In a nutshell:
Correlation says something about the strength of relationship between an X and Y variable.
The p-value says something about the probability that the null hypothesis is true.
In the regression output for Minitab, she usually gives you Rsquare rather than R.  Rsquare is the percent of variation in Y explained by the relationship with X.  There are two hypothesis statements in the Minitab output.  One concerns the overall relationship and the other the coefficients of the Xs.  The p value may tell you that there is a relationship between X and Y with the Rsquare saying something about the strength of that relationship.

Do you ever do any actual work aside from posting on this website?  Whom do you work for, because I want a job there.

And Darth was doing so well, focusing on the technical posts and not getting involved with the rest of us slackers.

    Dear Thanks,
Thank you for your considerate and thoughtful post.  As to your request, after considerable deductive reasoning, I have come to the irrefutable conclusion that you already have a great job.  This conclusion was reached on the simple premise that if you have the time to ask how I have the time to post, you must already have the time to read them all.  Ergo, you already have a job which permits sufficient time to read all the postings.  The difference is that you are not burdened with  having to actually contribute but have the luxury of just lurking and taking cheap shots.  I hope my response has been most hopeful.
    Sincerely,
    DV

    thanks,
Please forgive me for not inquiring in my last response as to whether you had any dispute or problem with the actual content of my original response regarding “Definitions”?  Was there anything you would add or change to make it more useful and effective for the original poster?   It takes about the same time to post a contribution as it does to post an insult.  Since we already established that you have the time, please put it to better use than inquiring about my employment status.  Thanks thanks.

Darth – the world is round.  Pls post 5 responses indicating that it is not, and drop references to something you read in some text book somewhere.  Almost every single one of your responses is verbatim from a textbook, from Minitab’s help function or taking the bait from someone else about anything whatsoever.  How about some actual practical examples!  I too am an infrequent reader (when I do get the chance I read as much as I can) and first time poster, but have had it with this site and your antics.

    Buzz,
Again, I ask the same question.  Do you take any exception to the CONTENT or CORRECTNESS of what I said or have ever said in my responses to technical questions?  The source is irrelevant.  If someone asks about Minitab, why not answer directly from the source?  In fact, why didn’t they check the Minitab Help section before posting?  If I am quoting “verbatim from a textbook” please provide the source before making such an accusation.  If what I say sounds “textbook” it is because I have been teaching for a while and the answers are not emotional but in fact, what one would find in a textbook or an online web search.  And if this is your first post, why waste it taking cheap shots and not answering one of the many questions which I assume even you could answer or quote from a “textbook”.

    Dear Darth & rest ,
My request let us not post or reply to irrevelant topics. Let’s concentrate on only SixSigma aspects , whch I have seen you doing pretty well & I ‘ve also learnt things from you. It is indeed appreciable if some one can directly answer in Minitab’s help language ! How many of us really spend time in understanding contents of Minitab ? I share my experience. 90% time I get answers from Minitab or some books.
Looking for intesting technical replies again !

    Regards
    Alek
