A bore with tolerance of 10 microns.
During boring operation, some times due to chip clogging, a line mark could appear, which can only be seen but not measurable. As the bore surface quality improves, this line mark is more prominent.
Technically speaking, Do we need to scrap / rework the component ?0February 26, 2003 at 6:10 am #83317

A.B0February 26, 2003 at 4:07 pm #83342Hi,
Does the presence of a line mark affect either the form, fit or function of this part? If it does, then the line mark is a problem. In addition, what does your customer think of line marks?
Hope these questions prove helpful.0February 26, 2003 at 5:05 pm #83345If it cannot be measured and the bore meets specifications, it is not a nonconformance.
If source of linemark is known, fix line clogging problem using DMAIC. Defect is binomial–has linemark or not.0 - AuthorPosts
