Mike CarnellParticipant@Mike-CarnellInclude @Mike-Carnell in your post and this person will

It was 5 days long and taught Full and Fractional Factorial designs for a couple days before he transitioned into the Taguchi stuff. He did a great job on the Full/Fractional stuff and then showed the differences and applicability of Taguchi.
If you are looking for a balanced approach Barker does a nice job without trying to turn you into a “Taguchi guy” or some other intellectually bigoted thing.
Try a book by Bob Launsby called “Straight Talk on Designing Experiments.” ISBN 0-9636093-3-5. It is understandable and will give you a good foundation before you go to class. I used to come with software as well (I haven’t bought a copy in a while so I don’t know it is still included).
Good luck.0April 23, 2002 at 6:05 pm #74714We’ve been using Minitab Inc.’s training for several years with great response from attendees.
They offer a one-day intro to design and anlaysis of full and fractional factorial screening designs, and a one-day course on response surface optimization methods.
You can even get fancier and take their one-day Advanced Reliability course learn how to analyze DOE results when much of the data are censored (exact results unknown).
You can see their schedule of public classes at

Understanding Industrial Experimentation by Donald J. Wheeler ISBN 0-945320-09-4
In addition, another good book is:
Statistics for Experimenters by Box, Hunter and Hunter ISBN 0-471-09315-7
