    Hello to everyone!
I’m a quality engineer and in earlier publications saw that DPMO and PPM data used for sigma level (Cpk) calculations. Is DPMO and PPM the same thing?
    Thank you in advance!

The difference is only that DPMO counts no. of opportunities and PPM counts parts (defective) per million.

    DPMO: Defects Per Million Opportunities
PPM: defective Parts Per Million parts
For DPMO you count defects instead of defectives (each defective can have one or more defects) and opportunities instead of parts (each part can have one or more opportunities). DPMO and PPM will match only if, for DPMO, you consider only 1 opportunity per part (the thing is Ok) and allow only 1 defect per part (the thing is not Ok).
Sometimes it is heard about two kinds of “sigma levels”. One internal (from the process perspective) and one external (from the customer perspective). For the customer perspective, it is logical to match DPMO with PPM as explained before.

In the original Motorola terminology, PPM and DPMO were the exact same thing.
Early literature tended to use the term PPM, but latter that terminology was replaced by DPMO (or sometimes DPMOp).
