Our postpartum unit has been experienceing some delays in discharging mothers and babies. The unit discharge time is 11a.m. however, the parent do not leave until about 5pm to 9pm. The unit is trying to do a PI project for the floor in relation to the discharge process. One of the problem we are facing is that the doctors do not like doing circumscions the day after delivery they usually like to do it usually on the day the mother is leaving. The mother would have to wait until that infant voids which is sometimes a while. Can anyone maybe working on a postpartum unit give me some ideas on how to go about the project on discharge. Thanks
