Hi Guys, does anyone have a nice little Excel based template for doing decent time series analysis and forecasting? Yes, I am looking for a freebie that someone was kind enough to develop in their spare time. I know that there are plenty to buy and Mini does a decent job but need something quick and dirty with some capabilities. Thanks and hope everyone had a good 4th holiday….at least those that celebrate the holiday.

Somewhat limited but try this free Excel add-in for ARMA Modeling:

    http://www.web-reg.de/arma_addin.html

Update – link appears to be broken.

    Alternatively:

Set up a manual EWMA in Excel, with the Lambda value as a separate input cell.

Create an output cell that is the sum of residual^2.

Use Solver to minimize the output, by varying the input lambda.

To create the ACF, add a few columns, with row shifting, then use Excel’s correlation function.

    Hope this helps.

@jnoguera Thanks John. Was hoping for an existing template with a few more capabilities to use a variety of models and then some predicted forecasts.

The ARMA tool should do the trick if you can get it. Try contacting the author on the web site I gave you.

It has a differencing function, so you can specify p,d,q.

The Correlogram/ACF is also mentioned as a separate tool available for download.

Figured out the problem. The link works with IE but not Chrome.

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for the compliment! I can’t take any credit for the ARMA tool mentioned above.

We will be adding full Box-Jenkins ARIMA in our next release.
