be notified via email.Hi,
I am a BB. I am about to start a new project in a company where the concept of six sigma is still not known. I am planning to conduct a 30 min overview for the team members. I would be greatful if anyone who has done a project in a similar situation, and can give me some tips on how to go about it.
thanks in advance.

J and G Steel Corp0February 7, 2002 at 4:46 pm #71940ya..our company has followed this approach of awareness program for six sigma.
well first and foremost is prepare a shell document of all the dmaic and dmadv process and breifing them about all the steps that are involved.
mostly people tend to compare sigama with cmm or kaizen or like wise the mindset has to be changed to make the point clear that noone says sigma is better that any other methods..only six sigma has the outside prospective which no other tools have …
a case study can be a best approach…at the end of the awareness program and also some sample excersices like ..preparing charter, sipoc, writing ctqs..for some the proble statement…like wise..so that they gets hands on knowlege..six sigma cannot be understood by theory…u have to try it out…!!

Ramiro R. MolinaParticipant@Ramiro-R.-MolinaInclude @Ramiro-R.-Molina in your post and this person will
be notified via email. My personal advice. I personally do not think that a 30 minute presentation will get the team into 6-Sigma so easily. At least, they should have a general exposure seminar, 2-3 days, going over the 6S roadmap, from the Define step through the Control (the well known DMAIC) step of the methodology. Otherwise, you will spend many more hours during the development and excution of the project(s) without them knowing where they need to go. Depending on the structure of the organization that you are in, you might want to give the general exposure seminar to the top management level and embark into a Green Belt seminar with your project team (I take that you are a BB already), one step of the DMAIC roadmap at a time; this way, eventhough you are investing (“spending”) more time up front, the results will come faster and the projects will be executed in less time, overall.
0March 25, 2002 at 8:59 am #73594HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guy asked for some help on an intro. Why the secrecy about “give me your email address, I would prefer to send it to you”.
And as for the 2-3 day seminar – when did DMAIC take over as the Six Sigma roadmap. So many supposed BB’s talking about DMAIC as being the the whole show and forgetting it is one small piece of Six Sigma. Hmmm, I’m sure there was more to it once. I have obviously been wasting my time with my participants in talking about knowing or defining core processes, understanding CTQ’s, about establishing them to begin with etc etc etc blah blah blah…….0March 25, 2002 at 5:47 pm #73623

0October 26, 2003 at 7:00 pm #91628Dan,
According to Reigle, your definition of opportunity in your availability example is wrong. You defined it as a minute of uptime. Reigle contends that you should define all of the things you are measuring (the harddrive could crash, a node on the network could go down, a solar storm could bring global communications to a halt,..) I’ll bet if you got creative you could at least multiply those opportunities of yours by 50.
By the way, I too liked your presentation except for the clipart. You may note that the esteemed Dr. Harry is one of the worlds masters in the use of clipart.0February 15, 2006 at 5:42 pm #133839
