Most of these threads seem to start off OK with a genuine query or comment, but a large number seem to become useless and they degnerate into a diatribe of acrimonious opionionated drivel spouted by the fontal labotomised Stan or Darth (or both of them).
Perhaps we could redirect their extra-curricula discussions to a unified thread. ad hunc modem

If you don’t like what they have to say, don’t read their threads…I for one enjoy the fact that they challenge people’s opinions and force them to explain their statements. Also, a little hummor is fine with me.

Hi, nice name. I am always pleased to see I can evoke a dumb response.
If you would like to start an intelligent thread that has substance I will contribute. I am neither angry or resentful so acrimonious is a poor choice of words.
I cannot speak for Darth, but I am trying to get people to think. We get the constant simple question that could be answered with a web search or basic stats course. Instead we have people who think they have found the holy graile who have really only found the beginning of a long path of learning. Learning begins at home with effort. When I think people have actually given thought and effort before a post, I answer it.
Want to start an intelligent thread? We cannot make this one useless because it started out useless. Give us a better target.

    (I’ve used nice big words…so they won’t understand!) …. labotomized…
It’s lobotomized not “labotomised”, you seem to also use words that you either don’t understand or are not familiar enough with to spell correctly.   And your contribution to the forum and Six Sigma in general has been what exactly?    We could generalize your concerns by excluding all non-value added contributions.    Of course you, and frequently I, could no longer post – but that’s not all bad.    Why pick on the few contributors that actually give accurate Six Sigma information and perspective?    Gestalt

If you have been offended in the past by either direct response to your posts or by reading the responses to the posting of others, please consider joining our group of recovering isixsigma.com posters. It is a support group aimed at restoring the fragile psyche of those desirous enough of learning more about the field of Six Sigma to have either been venturous enough to access the forum or courageous enough to have actually posted but in either case not well equipped to deal with responses.

First and foremost, it is not you, you are not to blame, you are not overly sensitive, you are truly dealing with people in the forum who are troubled and recalcitrant.   Don’t take your forum experience as a personal affront, state your case and move on.   The multi-step recovery process moves you from hostile denial and fear of rejection to becoming a well-informed callous jerk like your peers.

I don’t know that your statistics were or were not fact-based, but for every 30 – 40 accomplished posters there a literally hundreds of sensitive contributors like yourself who have tried to share their expertise only to be told that they were either idiots or ill informed only to have folded their little tents and moved to less challenging forums.

This will seem like tough love but – stop your whining, dry your little eyes, blow your little nose, stand up straight and post. The meetings are on Thursdays, 7:00PM on Yahoo’s Yahooligans channel five (you might have to wait until all of the complaining about this civics teacher or that mean Mom is over, but after an hour or so we bump all of those other whiner’s off the internet and really get down to healing and plotting.

You are not only a cross-ponder with “s” and “z” English to Americanized English as a challenge but your word selection with “write” versus “right” plus the deliberate humorous spellings taken together gives a uniquely compelling message.   My ID of Gestalt was right on target.    Gestalt

    SICK2DARTHofSTAN,
I am with the earlier post – if you don’t like what they post don’t open the post. They both obviously have a better comprhension of SS than most and frequently provide advice that they aren’t getting from their BB, MBB, Consultant, etc.
The same freedom that allows them to post their comment s is the same freedom that allowed you to post:
“but a large number seem to become useless and they degnerate into a diatribe of acrimonious opionionated drivel spouted by the fontal labotomised Stan or Darth (or both of them).”
    Just my opinion.

I have refrained myself from replying those ABC questions from many “innocent” posters. They all shall have intelligent to click on menu in the left right side of this website.
Stan gang knows better SS stuff than a big bunch of so-called MBB and BB as far as I had observed.

I’m sorry.  I don’t understand what you said.   Was it pro-Stan or anti-Stan and where did the “gangs” come in?   Is Stan the leader of a street-gang?   I did however understand that that you make very attempt to refrain from posting and applaud your efforts.    Gomer

If I believe what was Stan said in the earlier posting, Stan is made up of four members. So, Stan is a “gang” of four members.

    Stan,
Now that was a good response.  I believe that you add value, however, your delivery system can use some Six Sigma oprimization.  I’ve seen good conversation turn to defensiveness (non-value added) due to an inappropriate response from you.  Just feel that you could add more value if you considered the human-side.
    Just a thought…

I believe that you have written in the past that you are from the Pacific Rim and as such should be very familiar with China’s Gang of Four who were arrested and removed from their Communist Party leadership positions in 1976.    After the death of Mao Zaedong the arrest of the Gang of Four (oddly comprised of Jiang Qing, Yao Wenyuan, Zhang Chunqiao, Wang Hongwen, Kang Sheng, and possibly Xie Fuzhi) marked the end of the Cultural Revolution and the beginning of a new economic and international order for mainland China.  So, for you with your knowledge of the oppressive nature of China in the Cultural Revolution to be comparing the efforts of Stan4 to the Gang of Four is offensive, belittling and a blatant attempt to interject derogatory subconscious and possibly subliminal messages linking the participation of forum members to genocide, political, economic, and social oppression – and we won’t take it any longer.   Apologize immediately or cease posting.    Gomer

    My two cents worth….
I don’t always agree with Stan and Darth but think most of the time they do contribute.  I’m sure others don’t agree with my perspective or answers all the time.
Unless isixsigma is going to scrub the posts, an unenviable task, let’s not lambaste those who take the time to post.  Stan OFTEN posts good info.  Darth makes me laugh with his input.
Stan, Darth, and other regular contributors–please keep posting or else the posts will die off.

I believe the bombardment of political ads and college football have given us a new kinder and gentler Stan today.
I must say that while Stan can be somwhat abrasive in his delivery, he has been very good at providing valuable information when the question is either challenging or at least though provoking.

Sorry for my tardy response.  I have been busy today and was just informed about this thread.  I certainly don’t have much to add in the way of pointing out the original poster’s idiotic initial post.  That was handled very eloquently by others.  As for Tequila with Stan…….I have just left a cocktail party on the second floor of the conference which you supposedly are attending.  I was standing there for hours with others posters including the isixsigma boss himself.  There will be an announcement tomorrow morning requesting that any of the Stans please identify yourself(ves).  Tomorrow night for tequila will be most appropriate if you are indeed in attendance.  I sure hope you didn’t bet on the Gator/Mississippi game otherwise you will be buying rounds for more than me.  As for the ACC….when do we actually play the so called competition.  Scoring 45 points on the number one defensive team (NC State) is pretty lame.  Stan, I will see you tomorrow.

If you know the true stroy of China, you shall call it a gang of five. The gang leader is Moa ZaeDong.
Why don’t you think other way, is these “bad people” make this word gang tainted? Informal. A group of people who associate regularly on a social basis.
Perhaps you shall go to soc.culture.china forum to express your political rhetoric.

    Dog Sxxt,
You selected one small portion of the definition of “gang” from dictionary.com.  The complete definition is:

A group of criminals or hoodlums who band together for mutual protection and profit.
A group of adolescents who band together, especially a group of delinquents.
Informal. A group of people who associate regularly on a social basis: The whole gang from the office went to a clambake.
A group of laborers organized together on one job or under one foreperson: a railroad gang.
A matched or coordinated set, as of tools: a gang of chisels.

A pack of wolves or wild dogs.
A herd, especially of buffalo or elk. See Synonyms at flock1.
I assure you that I was going with the primary definition and don’t think that a few bad people in China gave us a bad connotation of the word “gang”, it was already there.  If you could count you’d see that inclusive of Mao (a given) the number exceeds five.    Thanks for the soc.culture.china forum tip, please go there and wait for me.  I’ll be along shortly.   Gomer

    Gomer,

First – nice job on picking out a forum name, it fits.

Second – usually, I’m a fan of miss-applied angry political rambling, however this was is way out there.

Third – your beef with the word gang brings me back to ‘The Little Rascals’; I never knew that Spanky and the GANG were the scourge of yesteryear.

Ah, Stevo… when I saw a reply that was not from Dog Sxxt, I thought, “At least it will be well written.”   But, unfortunately no, it was not.   I have to agree with you that the site has really been left on the one hand to the illiterates and on the other hand to those with rambling diatribes (serious or not).   I see how and why you and Dog Sxxt feel a common sense of compatibility and defensiveness.   You are amazing.    Gomer

Sorry, wrong call on this.  MJones and Luke are outstanding posters and far from being members of the you know what Club.  Additionally, this meeting was put together by the Moderator of isixsigma so you know we will be on our best behavior otherwise our thread will be terminated.  But, again, none of the Stans made an appearance.  Disappointing especially since a bet was to be paid off.  A few lurkers did make themselves known which was a nice surprise.

    I’m sorry, Darth,
I let myself get caught up in the piling on, and trying to be clever with the strikethrough font.
I haven’t been able to keep up on forum as well as I’d like over the past couple months, so I did a keyword search for “Darth” to find the data points you requested. Unfortunately, what came up were mostly things like people thanking you for being helpful. I haven’t had time to thoroughly study whether “helpful” is a fairer description of you or if iSixSigma’s search engine is biased, but you might want to look into that.
The LAST thing you want is to have a reputation for being helpful. When they think you’re helpful, people keep asking you to help them with stuff.

Don’t worry about people considering you helpful. In addition to your obnoxious posts where you acuse people of being obnoxious, you are from MN. People understand that this is the land of Jesse and 10,000 rehab clinics. They will need that kind of help later.

Wimpy, but noble – in a hurt-feelings and unappreciated way.     Now of course real men or even a women forming one fourth of a group posting as Stan alongside an old curmudgeon calling himself Darth would stick to their guns and not respond to the cries of the forum to come back.   So I’m, as I always have, taking you at your collective word and bidding you adieu.

As long as your Moms continue to post I’ll keep reading.   But after your Moms get bored and depart I’m certain that Phil will leave and because Mike Carnell probably had a thing for your Moms anyway he’s probably gone…. so the rest of the content will be gone and most of the forum participants will quit participating and either get jobs, hobbies or start a family……

I think we all know the deal.  I’m sure that iSS does not put any money out to support forum geeks–unless of course they think you might bring them some business using your wonderful personality to engage the newbies and other would-be followers.
Ah, they wouldn’t do that would they…  Nah!
Got to hand it to you–ya got a great imagination!

Did you have fun playing with yourself on this thread all afternoon?

No ZZ, we only used that contraction for your sake.  We remain two..no make that three…whoops I mean four….heck I don’t know how many Stans there are….but we will remain separate and distinct in our approach to posting . Stan will remain onerous and nasty while I will continue to be humorous, cleaver, witty and helpful to anyone asking for help.  By the way, many thanks to the 30 people who requested the sample size calculator and to whom I responded almost instantaneously…..Stans would never do that….at least not for free.  BTW, that calculator has been discontinued so please don’t ask for a copy, thanks.

I don’t think you’ll be here in another two days.

Stan, guess Carnell lost the bet.  He said we couldn’t fill an entire page with our useless blather and it looks like, with ZZ’s help, we have about done it.  That’s a case of Herradura Darth for each of us.  Thanks for the help.  Let’s let the other kids play now…we have hogged the sandbox way too long but look at the traffic MC can show his advertisers.

    Darth,
I think you should reconsider onerous unless you want to concede you title of wordmeister and spell checker. Seems to be a bad choice. Helpful axxhole would seem to be better.

Stan, I think you meant Sig Sauer.  Much more effective at running off the riff raff.

I did not know you were into such things, but then again in the third world ghetto you live in, it is probably useful.

Yeah, about as much fun as you have playing with your brother Darth.  Every once in a while you probably need to switch hands–to drink that Herradura of course…
Say listen–if you work for ISS, then you should have no problems obtaining my actual email right?  Just a matter of a phone call to the webmaster.  Drop me a real note, off line.

Caution ZZ, the last time someone said that to Stan he woke up in a cheap motel in Mexico married to a 60 year old woman of the streets.   I don’t think you can tempt him with that line.  A better strategy might be to challenge him to a debate on the relative value of some obtuse statistical element of Cp or Cpk or even MSA.  In fact, if you try posting something of an intellectual nature or seek to enter into a debate with him, I believe he will take the bait.

You realize nothing you’ve said about your association with iSS makes any sense.  If you were hired to “assist” the forum, then why would you bother with a malcontent who submits to 9 month old postings about nothing.  This malcontent has provided no bad information, guidance, or has not made any rash statements about the use of Six Sigma methodology.  No need for an iSS cop, yet here you are…  Your like a moth to a flame.  Quite pathetic I might add.  So, the real question Starth boy is–why do you bother?Answer:  It’s a power game…  It has nothing to do with providing any value to us.  It’s all about control! You, er your brother Darth is way too transparent…Your discourse is beginning to bore me.  Time for a shot before bed.  Sound familiar?

    Starth,
Give it a rest…  Neither you nor your twin brother provide enough value to be paid anything.  You’re just a legend in your own mind!  Why don’t you try listening and understanding over the one-liners.  There’s not much hype in the approach, but perhaps it will give some of us a chance to work out our issues.  Oh, that’s right–you were hired to do what? … help us work out our issues for us?  A real democratic process I might add.  And, you get paid to do this?  Yeah, maybe it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee.
Well, I think it’s now time to go to bed…  Looking forward to your smart quips tomorrow.  More importantly I’m really looking forward to you growing up, and giving the rest of us a little space to work in without your perpetuating drone.

    Starth Boy,
You’re right!  You’ll probably bore me off this forum with your constant drone or tired quips.  Hey, why do you bother with me?  I’m not bothering anyone else.  It would be so easy to ignore me, wouldn’t it?  But, I bet you just can’t…  Mr. iSS cop!  You’re working to save the world from me, or others like me.  Right!
Remember this–all I want to do is interact with folks on this forum to exchange ideas.  I/We don’t need your help guiding us through that process.  Join us in the discussions, but don’t control us…
I have a theory, and I’d like to share it with you…

I don’t believe you’ve ever done any real Six Sigma work.  I think you read the hack Six Sigma Forum magazine for all your answers.  You probably go to work every day, and work 8 to 5 as a technician at some electronics or computer store.  “Can I help you sir is your motto.”  Given your brief and shallow anwsers, answers without any foundation, to complex subject matter on this forum I bet that’s the game.  What a hack!
Why don’t you and your brother sit out a few of the discussions, and let us bumble along.  That’s how real learning and understanding really takes place.  Pull out your bottle of H.. and sit it out for awhile.
    Your friend always,
    ZZT

    Darth,
I am glad you knew Zzit boy was talking to you, not me. And since he goes by the name of Zzit, I suspect he eats your fries several times a day. Say hi to him when he comes through the pick up window on his bicycle later.
PS – you still have not corrected that use of onerous. Bad choice of words. I know you are embarassed that a guy who spells as bad as I do caught you on that, but the sooner you admit your past transgressions, the sooner the healing begins.

Stan, the spelling is correct.  You may take exception to the word when applied to your posts.  Since they are your posts I will yield to your discretion as to its use.
Onerous – burdensome, arduous, heavy, difficult, tiring, time-consuming, tedious.
Possibly this word might better apply to some of Dr. Vinny’s longer but fascinating posts.  Or all of ZZ’s since they are so meaningless.

OK, I was tracking along with this lively thread and in between involuntarily saying an occasional Seinfeld “yada, yada, yada,….” and rolling my index finger around in a circle in the global symbolic signal for “let’s keep it rolling..”  I hit this deliberate slight from one of the very people who upon being criticized by Zit as being a noncontributing lightweight was thinking about leaving the forum:

I’d just say that you evidently fail to grasp the significance and benefit of a person taking the time to eloquently paint a written picture for you in an effort to keep you from misunderstanding complex concepts and abstract thought.

Reminscient of George Clooney in O Brother, Where Art Thou?

    – They have a plan, but not a clue.

Pete: Wait a minute. Who elected you leader of this outfit?
Everett: Well Pete, I figured it should be the one with the capacity for abstract thought. But if that ain’t the consensus view, then hell, let’s put it to a vote.
Pete: Suits me. I’m voting for yours truly.
Everett: Well I’m voting for yours truly too.
[Pause] Delmar: Okay… I’m with you fellas.

    He ain’t our daddy.
I am the only daddy that you got… I am the damn pater familius!

    ZZT,
In Texas we only have one true ZZT and unless you are good at singing “Cheap Sunglasses” or “Tube Snake Boogie” it isn’t you.
One point of view. One reference perspective. One mind. No variation there–truly Six Sigma!
    …..and that was measured how?
    ……and the MSA was what?
Just having a little fun myself before we stroll off to celebrate the sun going down (in memory of Mallory Square).

    Darth,
Filling the page was impressive. I am still in awe of Stevo. He and HF got a lot of stuff up before thay pulled the entire thread.
MC needs to put one of those little pulse sensors on the Discussion Forum monitors to make sure they are staying awake. I guess this doesn’t make sense to mess with the monitors. Kind of like poking a bear with a stick.
I will be in Meeamee over that holiday at the beginning of September – at least that is the plan. I can pay off then if you will be around. Jet lagged and drinking tequlia – there is something to look forward to. A little Six Sigma Mambo on Calle Ocho. No white socks.
    Regards
