Is anyone out there in Six Sigma land…measuring carrier delivery performance (trucking industry) from a manufacturing facility to the end customer? What standards are you using? How were they obtained??
    Thank you!

No, but what measurements are you thinking of? Post a few here and we’ll help you think through them!

I am seeking ideas for how a company could apply Six Sigma to their Inbound and Outbound transportation of products as well as to their supply chain as a whole. Does anyone have any suggestions or examples that they can share with me?

    Diego:
It would be best to first split your costs into their individual components – to get something like a Pareto chart. For example for outbound, you can calculate on the basis of destinations – which are the high traffic ones and which ones are low.
Alternatively you can break up the total costs into its components like Insurance / labour/ depreciation/ fuel etc. and then start working on the high cost components.
This ususally gives you a fair idea of where to start your efforts / concentrate your energies.
