Andrew ParrParticipant@Andy-ParrInclude @Andy-Parr in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Hi @katiebarry or @michaelcyger
I am becoming confused by the fact that each morning when I check my phone I have an email from the site that says “rejoicviuy wants to add you as a friend” but every time I log on to have a look there is no sign of a friend request.
Am I doing something wrong or is some one trying to scam my account?
Help!
Andy

Robert ButlerParticipant@rbutlerInclude @rbutler in your post and this person will
be notified via email.@andy-parr it’s a spammer. They get through from time to time – I’ve had the same person/entity trying for the same thing. I’ve seen a few in the past as well. This one is just more persistent.

Katie BarryParticipant@KatieBarryInclude @KatieBarry in your post and this person will
be notified via email.@Andy-Parr As @rbutler said, that is a spammer. He’s been particularly persistent this week, getting through our normal traps. (He’s also pesky by getting through those traps when some of us are still asleep!) We’re creating some more blocks to stop future spammers of his ilk moving forward, but it will take us a few days to get those set up. In the meantime, check out the profile of someone who wants to friend you. If it’s got no info, then she may not be a friend you want to have.

As @KatieBarry and @RButler pointed out, we’re in a constant battle with spambots to save civilization. 🤣
And we’re not the only one. I think all social media sites are facing the daunting task of preventing spam. Here are invitation links from Linkedin:
I will say that Katie does a heroic job of monitoring and moderating our discussion forum every day. 👏
We’re also continuously looking at ways to improve our automated filtering and moderation processes to prevent defects like this from occurring.
Have a great Friday and weekend.
Stay safe and healthy,
