    Friends,
In our company we are regularly doing gauge R and R .While doing our AGRR we first got a score of around 15%. The population was 29 people and we trained them and redid the excersise and to our dismay found that the score is 13%. This happened despitethe fact that the score (consitency) within onself had improved.
My feeling is that the score is low due to the population of 29 people and we therefore are looking for a consistency across 29 people. Is there any rule the ideal number of people to be included for such studies? I feel our score will improve if we do it in batches of 5, but is it right?
    Please enlighten me on this.

    Ganesh,
My experience with GR&R is using 3 people for the study with the focus on understanding the amount and sources of “noise” in a measurement system.
I’m not sure if I can comment further without knowing more about what your are trying to measure and why you thought training would help…  If you could provide a little more detail, it would help me to better understand what you are trying to do….
    Best Regards,

    Dear  ganesh
please check first of all whether your inspection is of destructive type or non-destructive type. In destructive type the sample cannot be re-checked again. In attribute gage R&R poeple generally make this mistake.
USE crassed gage r& r  in minitab  in non-destructive type
and USE nested  gage r&r in destructive inspection type.
now in nested gage R&R  YOU CAN MAKE  groups of samples
that are inspected by only one inspector.. try this .
refer help menu of minitab regarding NESTED GAGE R&R.
PLEASE SEND YOUR DATA FOR FURTHER ZEROING IN.
    REGARDS

    Hi,
Since you are testing all employees against the “Expert”, there should be no problem testing people in batches.  Since it sounds like your company keeps conducting G R&R, just mix the batches every so often.
    Good Luck,
