I am just venturing out into the world of Lean Six Sigma and, on advice, have enrolled on a Black Belt course, so I am determined to make the most of it. I need lots of help as I don’t have a Master Black Belt mentor and have no statistical background. I want to improve my own business processes using the methodology and also introduce the ideas into my part-time retail service work where I work as a computer technician. I have questions that will be basic for a while and I look forward to hearing from you. Someday I hope to be able to help those in my position.

Welcome, Paul. Great to have you in the community!

Once you are educated in Six Sigma, you start to see the world in a whole different way. Everything becomes a process that can be improved/optimized, and you understand what is critical to quality from the customer’s perspective.

Looking forward to hearing how you improve your work.

Like everyone else welcome. There are a lot of people here with a lot of experience that will help you. Just some advice. Homework/test questions are very easy to recognize. In general people will not answer those questions and frequently will actually get a little nasty. If you want help on those types of questions put down your thoughts and reasoning and ask for help. People will work with you on that.

    Best of luck.

New to this site and Lean Six Sigma

Good morning, my name is Lucretia. I am new to Lean Six Sigma and found this website last night. I notice most employers want the certification for Lean and or Six Sigma. I believe in the concept of Lean Six Sigma. I have been actively using customer focus and Excel data in my own business practices and now I am looking to work for someone else. However, I was not aware there was a name or certification for it. I spoke with a representative at Villanova University and trying to find out if Villanova school is the best school for my learning style.

There is so much information on this website. Can anyone suggestions where to start reading and learning about how to use the tools for Lean Six Sigma on this site? Until I figure out what school to attend.

Thank you and have a Wonderful day!

Hi Lucretia! Welcome to iSixSigma and the world of business process improvement.

@haymerld If you haven’t already stumbled across it, our New to Six Sigma section has lots of good information: https://www.isixsigma.com/new-to-six-sigma/. We’ve been publishing for more than a decade, so when you have questions, our search functionality is a good place to start.

And this article might be helpful as you look to pick your training and/or certification provider: https://www.isixsigma.com/training/how-to-learn-lean-six-sigma/

@haymereld When you look at the Villanova site make sure you read the entire page which includes the part that says it is actually Bisk on behalf of Villanova.

Look at Moresteam. I would have to know all the products to know which one is “best” and I do not know them all. Moresteam is an excellent program. If you want a program to compare to I would start there.
