I do not know why consultants are busy promoting Minitab. For earning good commissions from them? Maybe. A bunch of cheaper and better software can do the same job as Minitab.0November 30, 2004 at 12:42 pm #111473What is a better software?
I receive no commission from Minitab.0December 1, 2004 at 6:27 am #111539

I am not interested to promote other commercial softwares as well. The point is those people buy the software (and not a pirated copy) shall get supports from the company.0December 1, 2004 at 6:49 am #111543

Johnny0December 1, 2004 at 11:44 am #111551My question is to your point of there being better, less expensive software. I do not know that to be true. Please help.

Johnny, yes Statistica is available in the U.S. I can’t vouch for its popularity but I prefer it to Minitab. Its graphics are the best I’ve ever seen and it is very user friendly with respect to data importation and data exchange particularly with SAS which is my analytical tool of choice. As a stand alone, its analytical capabilities are equal to Minitab. It is, however, more expensive than Minitab.0December 1, 2004 at 1:24 pm #111557
Johnny GuilhermeParticipant@Johnny-GuilhermeInclude @Johnny-Guilherme in your post and this person will

On my cv I have statistica as a package and not minitab and so companies are asking for minitab experience.

I’ve used Minitab and at my last place of employment my engineers and I routinely switched between Minitab and Statistica for both analysis and graphing. They had Minitab as part of their Six Sigma training and I brought Statistica in house because of my need for a good graphics package to go along with SAS.
I think it would be fair for you to say in any future interview that, while your C.V. says Statistica, your familiarity with that package means you will have very little trouble getting up to speed with respect to using Minitab.0 -
