We are initiating six sigma drive in our organization. Tomorrow its our first training session, we are starting with an hour’s session on six sigma overview. I have prepared the presentation; need your suggestion about different ways to launch the training program. May be some brain exercise or a teaser or some comic strip.
    Please suggest.

    Robin,
The only cartoons I know concerning Six Sigma are Dilberts.  None of them cast Six Sigma in a favorable light.
You will probably get a question like “We’ve tried this sort of thing before and it didn’t work.  Why will Six Sigma work while previous programs have failed?”
Look at your firm’s previous quality programs.  Find out why these programs didn’t produce the expected results.  Then show how Six Sigma will handle the problems that doomed previous efforts.  I’d summarize the results in a table and include it in your presentation.
You might want to look at Mike Carnell’s article “Understanding Six Sigma Deployment Failures” (google “Six Sigma Deployment Failures”; I think it’s the first hit).  Go through the failure mechanisims and know how you will address them.

Oh, please no.  I find those things to be quite annoying 99% of the time.  Just put someone in front who knows the material and how to command a room.
    Good luck.

Yes. I am sure your incredibly witty icebreaker that you pull off the web will transform your discussions about inferential statisitics into an ¨edge-of-my seat¨ experience for your students.I stand corrected.

A stripper and an open bar have always worked for me. Now what was the question?

I like the Dilbert cartoons as well. He kids because he knows.Stevo, you should have some decorum when discussing a subject
like aSS introduction. The strippers are inappropriate. I prefer bikini models especially from Wicked Weasel (http://
    galleries.wickedweasel.com/models/) or Malibu Strings (http://
http://www.malibustrings.com/gallery.html. The strippers are more appropriate for the homework sessions. The bar, especially when stocked with Jack, tequilas approved by
Darth, and Grappa is appropriate. It makes for a livelier Q&A
session after the intro as well.
