Currently I am working on a MBA and taking classes so that I can take the Six Sigma Green Belt Exam in the fall. I was wondering what sort of experiences would help me break into the Six Sigma field, and if there was any advice regarding summer internships?

I would suggest you to do a GB project parallely so that you can really make use and understand the tools that you learn thoroughly. Choose a project in your own field where you find a problem …. take up the area where there are needs for improvement. When you start off with a project, you will come up with more questions….when you question more, you learn more…just reading the material and taking up the exams wont help if you really want to explore Six Sigma.
Mail me at [email protected] if you need further help in chosing a project
    Good Luck.

Are you a full-time student?  By that I mean, do you work anywhere where Six Sigma has been selected as the Business Process Management mehtodology?  If you have, then the other comment is absolutely correct…..you need to find a project!  You can learn all about Six Sigma by reading, however, no one who really understands the methodology is going to consider any of that training worth anything without verifiable results in terms of a portfolio of successful projects.
If this is something that you are trying to do on your own, in an organization which doesn’t have Six Sigma or if you are a full-time student then you need to seek employment with an organization that is using Six Sigma.  Alternatively, you could become the Six Sigma evangel in your organization if you are in a significant enough leadership role (formal or informal).
    I hope that this helps…..jim

Yes, I am a full time student and do not currently work in an organization which uses Six Sigma. This already puts me behind the eight ball. This is part of the reason I posted my question, because I am not entirely sure where to start, short of mailing out a couple hundred resumes and hoping for the best.
