    Hi,
I am a college student from Aisa. My final year project requires me to apply 6 sigma in QFD. So far, I have done a survey and collected 50 customer’s voices. I wonder whether there is a way to use 6 sigma to analyse the customer’s voice and define those “outlier” voices, and finally use a range [,] to represent each “relative importance rating”.
    Thanks!

    Jojo,
I think you meant to say, “how to apply QFD in Six Sigma?”  Anyway, before you apply QFD, you need to structure the customer voices (referred to as “VOC”) to pull out some common themes. One way to do this involves Affinity Diagramming / KJ Analysis. You would get some friends or classmates (maybe 3-5) together, put the 50 customer voices onto Post-it Notes. You’d then review the 50 voices among the friends to make sure you each understand and can read the notes, then work silently on a wall or poster board to structure the notes by common themes. Each of you has a different perspective, so you may be moving what each other already moved, but eventually it will coalesce into groupings of notes by theme.
You would then get agreement among yourselves on a summary statement for each grouping – generally in the form of a customer requirement like “the solution should do this” or “the customer would like this”.
These summary statements would then be prioritized – perhaps by going back to the customers with your customer requirements, having them verify that those are key requirements, and having them prioritize the set.
These prioritized customer requirements would be what you would enter into the QFD matrix. The QFD would translate the customer requirements into measurable requirements (often called technical requirements), and the prioritization values from your customers will be translated by the QFD into relative importances for the measurable requirements.
I hope this is clear for you. Have a great weekend!
    Best regards,Eric
