    In case of having non normal data the sigma calculator is not effective as the high and low specs are calculated based on Z values what should I do to get the right sigma should i transform the data or what? please help

    You will have to identify what distribution does your data follow – weibull, lognormal etc.
    If you are using a statistical software like Minitab it is very simple. Once you know the distribution type, you can use the Capability Analysis option for non-normal data in Minitab to calculate the sigma level.
    Let me know if you need further help or if you do not have access to Minitab or other software.

    In Minitab, you even need not know the distribution. The option of Johnson transformation will do the job for you. If transformation doen’t work then the last resort would be to use DPMO method
