    Hello everyone,

I am searching since a few days a solution to my problem.
If I have the variation of my process (parts measured precisely at the metrology) and the variarion of my measurement system, is it possible to know the total variation of my process?
    Thank you for your help.

Variation in process is not clear, is it manufacturing process variation or measurement process variation? For second part that is variation in measurement system one can calculate variation using master sample reference or if there are more than one measurement instrument then by measuring same sample in different instruments.

Typically you add the variances to get the total variance.

@cseider – Chris, while you are correct, I believe the question related more to what the actual process variation is. Which would call for subtracting the variance of the measurement system from the variance of the measured process.
GJ – While this is technically correct, I would advise against doing so unless you have substantial amounts of measurement data.
