I chart or Xbar R ?

Hi. I collect 1 sample per day (variable data). Should I do an I Chart of daily data or an Xbar R chart of weekly data ? What principles drive this decision ?

0August 20, 2007 at 6:13 pm #160177I would also propose and IMR chart. If you used an Xbar/R chart with a subgroup size of 5, it seems as if you would be increasing the chance for within-group variation, which goes against the rational subgrouping guidelines.
