    I am a US Army officer working on a project for my master’s degree. I want to write a paper that proposes Six Sigma as a means to improve intelligence analysis and production in a tactical organization. Can anyone help me think of similar Six Sigma projects (private or public organizations) or studies that might be similar for me to research?

    Hey Lee,
    Interesting….The corps has been using TOC in field orders for some time, and the naval spec ops guys have used LEAN ideas in their CARVER model….You might want to look into those areas…Are you looking for a tactical application in the field or simply an intel analysis for a strategic implementation?

    Lee,
    Check out a 10/30/2002 article in USA Today about how the feds are implementing Six Sigma in counter-terrorism efforts.
    There was some dispute as to whether or not it should be used though…  There’s an ASQ representative who’s quoted in that article as saying something to the effect that Six Sigma really isn’t that effective at dealing with unique and highly improbable events which is what a terrorist attack would be.
