    Vikas,
I do not know what your background is.  But generally you need an understanding of:
    a. Business Systems (i.e. management and technology)
    b. Lean
    c. Six Sigma
After this introduction, you seek to achieve certifications in various levels, or “belts”, of six sigma.  These belts, in order of complexity, include yellow belt, green belt, black belt and master black belt certifications.
Hopefully this response serves as a good starting point for you !

A good idea would be to explore this site.  Start with New to Six Sigma on the left side bar.  You will get an idea of what skills are required and whree you might need future development.  After that, gettign a reputable Black Belt certification is a good idea – preferably one with project requirement(s) and mentoring support.

    Vikas,
Sure.  I would like to know a little more about you then… A masters in technology certainly helps.  Can you tell me what exactly you mean by “computer application?”.  By any chance, did you cover ERP and CRM theory and applications as part of your curriculum. Regardless, before you leap into six sigma, an understanding of business management and lean is very helpful.  If you have work experience, even that is a big bonus.
I do not know your level of knowledge in business or lean, but traditionally, at least a short course in Business Systems and Lean of a few days is essential.  After that you can acquire and training in Green Belt.
Again, many training companies have their own way of the certification process. I am only telling you what I have experienced.
Let me know what else you would like to know.  Also, are you in the US, or India?

While I received my training through a company sponsored program – provided by one of the 20 or 30+ training firms, I’ve become aware of an offering by Open Source Six Sigma (website of the same name). For around $100 US they license the full DMAIC (Balck Belt) course with templates. You can download it, study it, use it then take the ASQ test for certification.
Look into it – very cost effective way to get the skills.
