Just saw this on the site – http://live.isixsigma.com/events/summit/south_beach/2010/competition.html Has anyone heard about it? Anyone on here going to compete?

    Patrick_207,
I cannot speak officially for iSixSigma but CS International is cosponsoring this event with Moresteam and Minitab so I will tell what I know at this time (just got back from vacation so I do need to get caught up some). We have some interesting teams that have signed up for the competition. This is meant to be a fun event that gives different teams a chance to jump into a simulated business case and see if they can get to a solution and at the same time maybe learn some things. We will have facilitators on site all day to help with questions and make sure the competition stays fair.
The whole idea is to get a maore interactive event that lets everyone participate and it doesn’t matter if you are new to Six Sigma or if you have been at it for years. The good part is that if you look at the pricing that iSixSigma has placed on the competition not only allows you to compete but it also gets you admission into the conference.
I hope this has helped. If you want to speak about this offline my email is [email protected].
    Regards
    Mike

I plan to compete with one hand tied behind my back, hung over on
tequila.Should reduce the odds of me winning down to about 5:1

s’posed to be a team event, Stan.  Play nice!
Rates must be outrageous in the area being that it’s sandwiched between Pro and Super Bowls.

    Heebee,
I would love to see you guys compete. Actually I wanted to have the “Usual Suspects” compete but I already know the answer. Throw in with Stan and do it from behind a screen?
Looking forward to SoBe. When are you ever going to get a great room on SoBe at that price? This should be the best conference of the year – competition, rock solid speakers and a few good night spots within walking distance so you don’t have to worry about driving home and seeing how you do on the test with Dade Countys finest.

Tequila!? Anybody can compete with a tequila hangover just look at Darth. He appears coherent from time to time and he loves that stuff.
How about some Mojitos and then lets see how you do. Hung over and insulin shock – push yourself.
Next year we are setting you up with a 1.5 sigma shift cage match. You have to take on all comers. Are you ready for that? Make Dusty Rhodes proud. “What do I smell cooking?”

Check out the pricing. J9 did her homework and brought this thing in at a great price and the best venue you are going to see at any other event.
You are right about the Super Bowl. What other conference is going to put you in the same town as all the Super Bowl events in the week just prior to the Super Bowl?

Since you can’t type well except on an i-phone, I’d say tying 5 fingers behind your back will limit your ability to win.
Will there be enhancement drug testing?  LOL….

It will be interesting to see how this goes.  Will the competition be friendly or vicious?

It should be intriguing since it’s scheduled for at least half a day.
Has isixsigma done this competition in the past?

    E2,
This is the first time for the competition.
Moresteam has a great deal of experience in creating these types of case studies so the problem format isn’t new. The way it is being presented is new.

    E,
I don’t understand your question. All the teams get the same problem to work on but they are physically separate from the other teams. We will bring everyone together at the end. I am not sure what you mean by vicious competion. There will be facilitators in the room.

Mike – Is this the problem for Isixsigma.com Project Bowl.

Using your Red X Master and certified PMP skills; not only prove that Six Sigma will not be the next TQM, but predict where the Continuous Improvement industry will be.  Please don’t fabricate your control limits to calculate the short term sigma level.  Hint – It has something to do with the Mayan calendar.

Do you think ASQ will give out a Black Belt for it?

I personally plan on a few body slams and maybe a figure four.

hostage taking will be limited to 2 per team and sodium pentathol will be administered by the proctors (to control quality and quantity).  So, I would say friendly.

    figure 4 leg-lock – wasn’t that the favorite hold of . . .
Stan = Vern Gagne (are they letting you out of the old age home every now and then?)
Gosh, I miss the AWA.  Grew up in MN and used to walk to the channel 11 studio where they filmed the weekly TV show.  You could actually hear the guys talking to one another on what they were going to do next – but it was a hoot!

    MBBinWI,
…..and this is why we are having facilitators. I think all that frozen tundra stuff does something to you guys up there.

    Stevo,
Exactly. That is what we were thinking when we started planning this.
I am not sure if ASQ will give a BB cert but I am still waiting to see if they will send a team.
Always happy to get your thoughts on this no matter who’s they are.

This is why we were going to put you in a cage match, We are negotiating with Darth to show up in his Speedo. I figured if you have him dressed like that with you legs all wrapped together it should make for some interesting pictures that would be worth a lot of money over the next few years.
