In the company i work for it is not kaizen or six sigma, it is the Toyota Production System (or Lean Production System) along with Six Sigma. Every good Lean effort is going to hit a road block where statistical analysis is nessecary. Six Sigma is just another tool in my lean tool box that i can pull out when needed. The 5 why’s in lean can only get you so far, when you have multiple factors that are interreacting. The answer is not one or the other the answer is both.
