In preparing material for a green belt class that I am teaching, I have come across a question regarding the Kruskall-Wallis non parametric hypothesis test.
I had been previously taught that the Kruskall-Wallis test can be used with continuous or ordinal data.  In reviewing the statement of assumptions in Minitab for this test (in the Help section) they only reference continuous data.
Can anyone help to clarify for me whether this hypothesis test can be also used with ordinal data?
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,  Bryan

Bob – thanks for the link.   Interestingly, I called Minitab Technical Support and asked them the question.   They came back to me and said there references indicated that the test was orginally developed for continuous data but that it subsequently was tested  for and is now employed for Ordinal data.
