    Dear colleagues,

I need your advice to decide whether to start learning Lean IT and then Six Sigma or go with Lean Six Sigma only.

I work in IT and responsible for design and improvement of ITIL processes using PM framework.

And are there widely recognized certification institution, such as ASQ, but for Lean Six Sigma?

    Best regards,

    Costa

I suggest to study both Lean and Six Sigma paralell since lean is about flow (of information and etc.) and six sigma is about reducing defects and variation in key business processes.

Therefore there will be cases when lean tools are more appropriate in other cases six sigma method would bring results earlier…

I am located in Hungary so I can not give You advice on training sessions but if I were You I would look for a really practice oriented company with a mentor program because after completing Your first training project You will have much more questions than before :-)

I agree with Norbert. If you are not in an organization which has existing expertise in LSS, find a way to get it. Training is only part of the journey. Knowing how and when to use the knowledge is critical. A great way to get this is with a strong coach/mentor.

When you look for LSS programs, you may find some curricula aimed at IT and that is great. However, you can also find courses aimed at a more broad audience which will work fine.

Thank you for your valuable replies!

In this case, I’ll learn first Lean IT, then get experience and learn further Six Sigma.
