Does anyone know of a good 2 to 4 hour exercise suitable for demonstrating Lean Transactional principles at the Orange Belt level?

    Thank you in advance,

Are you at Home Depot? Never heard of such terminology away from the Orange aprons.

What is Lean transactional and what is an Orange Belt?

Without arguing the merits of the nomenclature itself…
    – Lean principles applied to non-manufacturing processes
    – What HD calls their employees who undergo 2-day training session on 6S. GE uses yellow belt… HD uses orange aprons.

Brett, if this is for HD, I’ll help.
If, and only if, this is HD; send me an email with you HD email address and I’ll send you a complete exercise.

    Stan,

Honestly, I don’t work for HD though it seems I spend more time in their stores than many employees.

Perhaps you could provide a non proprietary overview of the exercise you have in mind…If not, I understand.

    Ben,

Many companies (including the one I work for) maintain a portfolio of improvement techniques; Six Sigma to reduce process variation, Lean to compress time, 5S, etc. to introduce front line personnel to simple concepts.

Brett, within this and ASQ sites,  there are some simple self assesment about SS. Check there and verify if they are useful for you to set up a very simple introductory exercise.

In our introductory offering we created a case study for the teams to conclude the training and demonstrate transfer of knowledge.
I’s suggest you also create a case study either generic or company specific and have the teams create a proejct soryboard to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles.
Done well it usually takes about two hours.

Carl honey, I am offering to give this guy something for free.
I do not come here for business – I do it for entertainment and to help people who are really trying to learn.

Stan sweetheart, why does it matter what the company is and why not post your benevolence for all to see?

Carl honey, I choose to share with who I want.  Ask a good question or ask for some help and maybe I’ll choose to help you.

Stan, all this honey and dearest stuff is getting me concerned.  I am OK if it is Helga Stan but worried about the new Senior MetroStan.  When is that trip to Mexico?

Just trying to deal with this Carl idiot without calling him an idiot. Implying that I am on here fishing for business and that he has the right to expect I give him what I offer someone else.
Consider it getting it touch with my softer side – I think I’ll go make a quiche now.

    Stan,
Herbal tea seems to ba a drink of choice. It is usually the first flag that the deployment is in trouble.

    Stan,

Quiche, aroma therapy, group hug…ask for it and it’s yours.

Thank you so much for the excellent exercise material.

No need for your help here. Just making sure the forum is not misused. Too many bitter, I-wish-I-had-written-that-book, end-of-career, consultants-wanna-be out there…

I represent that remark.  Wait, I have written a book.  I am just starting my career…again and I am a well known and successful consultant so I guess you aren’t talking about me.  And special thanks for being the Forum Protector.  Yep, my initial assessment about you was correct but the kinder gentler feminine sided Stan will refrain from calling you an idiot in print.

Darth, one of the forum’s etiquette rules is that you should let people know that you are posing as me when you use my handle.

Stan, you should let Carl know that your feminine side is not the only companion you get either. Send him a copy of your book!!

Does this mean you can come out to play this afternoon?

Me?  How can you say that?  Ok, you got me.  I figured the posting time would have been a dead giveaway but you were too clever.  Knowing you as well as I do, I think I captured the tone of what would have been your reply.  I apologize.  Mea Culpa, Muy Grappa.

The reply regarding Carl was now a Darth fake.  My comment regarding Muy Grappa should establish my true identity.  I am too busy tasting fine wines and cognac to play right now.  I could possibly come out and play next week.  When is your trip to Mexico?

    Hi Stan
Could you share with me an overview of the Lean Orange Belt Transactional Exercise?  I am a BlackBelt and  would like to know more about the exercise referenced.
Thanks for any insight you can provide
    Carol
