6 sigma academy is now starting a LEan sigma GOLD belt certification. GOLD BELT?…wow-how different is this going to be from a generic Lean six sigma black belt course. In our endeavor for continuous improvement, arn’t we making ourselves redundant?
    What are your thoughts guys?

Was this, in any way, unexpected?  We are, after all, pledged and trained to drive continuous improvement.  We are not exempt from the sword we swing.  We will never arrive.  We are a part of the parade we lead.
Seek not the treasure.  Be true to the power of the Six Sigma idea, regardless of the marketing that swirls around us.  Build knowledge and confidence with representative, contextual, unbiased, relevant data.  Don’t be a bore.  Don’t be a bully.  Build bridges by building trust.  Teach.  Listen.  Pray.  Try.
OK, enough of the high road.  Are you serious?  “Gold Belt”?  We don’t even agree on what Black Belt means yet.  “Gold Belt”.  Jeez.  What a JOKE.  Ha.  Who do they think they are?  Those arrogant elitists.  They can’t just make something up!  ow ridiculous.  “Gold Belt”?

I am not sure whether it would be a good idea to have “Gold Belt”. It seems to add a false perceptive value to  six sigma work  and sounds like you are someone elite and special, which may not work and liked by the teams.  May be it would go on as ‘Diamond/Platinum etc.’ The six sigma role is more of teamwork and trust and let us stick to what it is and not gold or silver.

    Hello folks,
I read the advertisement.  Seems to me its funny that they are going to have BBs train the goldbelt class.  Its kind of like having the jail cook training Matha Steward how to make pancakes or how short sell stocks to make a quick profit.

I have to admit that Mikel Harry is a damned good businessman. May be try to sue 6SA for “highest” wording if your Gold BB does not perform as promised in the ad.

Show me the BEEF!  A title is only as good as the performance.  Sounds like a marketing ploy.

Sheesh, how dull and old fashioned!  The Gold Belt was the nickname for the Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad back in the 1880’s!  If we’re going to go in for belt color envy why not advertise Basic Black Belt training and then for an additional fee you could get a
    1. Paisley Belt (Extra training in trendy jargon)
    2. Puce Belt (Extra training in bloody boardroom infighting)
    3. Mauve Belt (Extra training in purple prose)
    4. Polka Dot Belt (Extra training in the art of song and dance presentations)
    ….ah, the marketing possibilities ….
        ….well, back to work….

This is so stupid.  I mean, a BB doing his/her job should satisfy the course description…except for the realization amount, and hey, some projects are high return and some are not.  Especially if your company has been doing Six Sigma for awhile, many times those high dollar projects become harder and harder to find.
