Working on implementing Lean Six Sigma concepts in Power Industry. Power plants are not typical mfg or service process.
Anybody that can share info on samples/examples or their experience?

Hi, i’m new in the power industry. Specifically, i am the quality head at a distribution transformer mfg company. Can anyone share with me if we can apply the same principle of DPM as in other manufacturing environment? And if can, what is the best in class benchmark?

Hey , power industry if you discuss means – 1. Power distribution, 2. Generation
and this may be conventional / non conventional source
for distribution of power LSS is one of the key to success, where by implementing Six Sigma we can reduce transmission losses which normally in the range of 6 to 8% where as in Power distribution due to old network, poor earthing, and many more reasons losses are high. for this MEASURE phase is critical prior to analyzing the situation. (Can share more details if asked), for Distribution commercial losses are very high that might be due to no meter reading, theft, Meter reading process gaps, billing and bill delivery process gaps etc. This clearly call for Lean processes around Distribution system and ensuring network uptime by implementing SS methodology in place.
