Hi, what “pride items” have your company adopted to get your LSS employees to be more proud of their positions? I’m thinking of a collar pin based a ranking system similar to the military :)

We send our LSS employees a paycheck every other Friday.  Seems to be working pretty well.  Oh yeah, we also value their contributions, respect their opinions, offer them a challenging work environment and make their professional development a priority.
But collar pins would work too.

Little green slips of paper with the likenesses of past American presidents on them…Pride items, slogans, corp swag…PUHLEESE!What people most want is recognition for a job well done and money… Money, not out of a sense of greed, but rather as tangible proof of respect and recognition for hard, profitable work.Pride items…crap!

Zombiee, as usual, all are making fun of you… welcome to the forum.
However, over the years I’ve seen SS logo’d hats, shirts, coffee mugs, satchels et al. Yes, there is pride among those in a SS program & rightfully there should be.

    Read his post.
“what pride items have your company adopted to get your LSS employees to be more proud of their positions?”
I fail to see how a hat or satchel could make you any more or less proud of your participation in a LSS program.  And in my experience, companies tend to offer inexpensive swag in lieu of actual commitment to the program or individual professional development.  Your mileage may vary.
Bottom line – if you run a good program, you won’t need “pride” items to make people more proud about what they do.

    BJ,
No we are not making fun of him…
We are calling out a common cultural misgiving among many in mgmt positions that is offensive, when presented in lieu of tangible and respectful recognition, reward, or appropriate career development, as stated by UCS.I swear, this could be a plot point in a sequel to, “Office Space II”…

Of course proper employee incentives and recognition are necessary – that’s rudimentary. Beyond that logo recognition is powerful as well. Admit you’ve seen it everywhere.

B., don’t be our next Robert S.Crappy advice is not needed. there is enough of that being dispensed
by crappy consultants and crappy management. It appears this guy is
already getting one or both of that.

This is amazing. The very best way in the world to make someone have more pride about their job is to simply tell in one of a Hundred ways “GOOD JOB”. Its that simple, a pat on the back, or simple “I really appreciate all your effort”.
Or buy them a T-shirt with this on the back if you cant say it

Yeah, I see my “pride items” in use as door stops and mugs used for the kid’s watercolors and my extra “you have to take our cert, because your previous 5 BB and MB certs wern’t done here” t-shirts in use as rags for changing auto oil…Wasteful crap. $$$ could be used for tangible rewards, or investment in emerging business and tech. I swear, not 24 hours after this thread started, my shop’s email portal carried an anouncement for the “wonderful, new and updated branding website with corp swag. What Bull SXXT.

Ok, here’s the deal.  You, me, HeeBee, Carnell and Stan will think of some great sayings along with input from the Forum.  We will then make up t shirts for the Conference in Feb. and sell them there.  The theme will be the anti-pride saying.  For example, “Stop Bitch’in You’re Overpaid Anyway”.  Or, “If You Don’t Like It, Leave. There Are A Hundred More Willing To Work For Less”.  Or, “Stop Whining, You Could Be Working For Stan.”

I’m disappointed my last response was taken down.  This forum takes itself way too seriously.

Don’t worry, nobody else takes the Forum too seriously. Keep posting away.
